I'm looking for any information reguarding
the Mellen family of Minnesota. I'm having
trouble getting out of Minnesota, because
I believe there may have been name changes
along the way. I have information on Frank
Mellen/Mellon/McMellon marring an Eva Pettis
in Minnesota. Frank's father, William,
lived in New York and married a Marillia
Davis. If any of this makes any sense,
please contanct me ;)
My grandmother was Jennie Levina Mellen. She was born in Madelia, MN April 21, 1893. She was the daughter of Jim Mellen I believe his actual name may have been Frederick Mellen (My bible (info from mother)says Frederick)) Grandmother's obit says Father Jim Mellen) She had a brother James and a brother Samuel. She had 3 sisters, Abby, Rosine and Josie. Her mother was Matilda Abbot.
Peter Mellen married Maria Hover about 1785 probably in Montgomery Cty, NY.
I need ancestry for him. Rumor says the name was changed from McMillen, McMillan.
A Peter McMillen appears in the Patriots Index of the DAR as born in Scotland.
Peter John Mellen of montgomery co., NY
2. Henry Mellen, Lewis County, NY. 3. John
Henry Mellen of Lewis County, NY and Raleigh
County, WV, Lydia Mellen, Raleigh Co., WV.
Have some records on all three.
To Palmer Wilson: I would appreciate the information you have about the first three Mellens mentioned in your response. Thank you for answering. Adrienne
I will be interested in any info you can provide about the first three people you mentioned. Thank you for your response. Adrienne
I need info on peter mellen, I have a peter j. mellen born 1818 in mohawk valley, ny, married to a caroline page. If this sounds familiar, please respond.
Peter Mellen of montgomery Co.,NY was in my
family line. He married Maria Hover/Hoover.
My line is as follows: John Henry Mellen;
Henry Mellen; Peter Mellen.
Henry Mellen had a son Peter born 1812.
I was told by relatives he died in the Civil
War but have not been able to verify.
I have found a Peter Mellen in the Austin
records which lists a Peter Mellen and his
family who lived in Hornells, NY in 1880
Census. His father was listed as Henry .
his Children had names of girls, which matched his sisters names.
He was listed as being from Lewis Co., NY.
His family is listed in LDS records also.
Will send what I have if you will contact
me with an address.
There is deffinately a connection! My grandfather (Manley) was born and grew up around the Mediliea area. He had two brothers: Chester and Raleigh (sp?) as well as four sisters (I think): Anita, Zelpha, Goldie, Noma. He talks of having an aunt Jennie, which I think is your grandmother! I have some information on grandpa's family. Please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org
and we'll figure it out!
Jeremy, are you still out there. I sent you an e-mail at your old address and someone sent it back. I attached a picture of Frank and Eva Clarissa Pettis for you. Please contact me.
