Looking for information on William Pool born 1803 in Greenville SC. Moved to Gaston County NC before 1850. On 1880 census Lincoln County NC. He had large family including my g-grandfather James Nelson Pool. Would like to contact descendants in North Carolina. I would like to know the parents of William Pool. Were his ancestors Pettypools? Please contact me if you know anything.

I am seeking information on William Pool of North Carolina. The 1850 census on Gaston County show him with his wife (Nancy Parks) and children. His age is listed as 43 and indicates place of birth as York District, SC. His occupation is listed as a "Miner'.

Replying to Lige Bailey. I too am researching this William Pool. My copy of the 1850 census shows him 40 years old and with his family in Gaston County. He has to be older. In 1860, Catawba Co., Newton PO he is 57. In 1870, Lincoln Co., he is 67 and in 1880, Lincoln Co., he is 77. I have been unable to trace him further back. I am now working on the possibility he might have been a Pettypool. This was a common name around Greenville, South Carolina., and many changed their name to P'Pool, Poole or Pool.

The 1850 census of Gaston County indicates that his place of birth was York County, SC.
York County is just across the state line from Gaston County---The 1870 census show him living in Catawba Springs Township in Lincoln County with his wife Nancy and daughter Sarah (19 years old). Next door is one of his sons-Thomas J with wife Mary A.
I have no further info--I am researching via the state archieves in Columbia, SC for further info.

Thanks Ron for the reply. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner. I have been pretty busy lately and haven't had time to do much with ancesters. I'm sure this Perkins P'Pool fits in somewhere in my family. My great grandfather was James Bennett Pettypool. He married Kitty Linn Curtis. I dont know when they thanged the name to Pool, Some of their children spell their name with the E, while most of them spell it just plain old Pool. My grandfather was John Boyd Pool and married Effie Alice Hargrove. The Lawrences also come into this family . Do you have anythingon any of these people. I will be glad to share info with you.
Thanks again for your time. Shirley Williams

Re William Pool, born 1803 married to Nancy Parks. I have a large file on William and his descendants. I need to know what Wiliam's father's name was and if he had any siblings. Were they PettyPools? Also any information on Nancy Parks. Will share my information. Thanks.
