In researching Quantrill has anyone ever came across the name R.P. Thrall? I know a Thrallkill is listed as one of the raiders but I can find no R.P. Thrall.

Mr. Thrall was born in Ohio but lived out the balance of his life after the Civil War on a piece of property now owned by my son. It was common knowledge here that Mr. Thrall had ridden with Quantrill. I even have a newspaper article from 1919 about his association with Q and there is a picture of Mr. Thrall as well.

I publish a paper called the Kansas Cowboy - Old West history - I just received a phone call from a subscriber in Culpepper, VA who knew R. P. Thrall. He said Thrall told him he rode with Jesse James. Do you have additional information. The gentleman is an Old West movie buff and told me he was going to find out what happened to Thrall. Perhaps you have all that information. Sounds like a good story for my paper. email kansascowboy@kans.com

Hi ...
I saw your post, and was wondering if I could have the contact for the grandfather you mentioned? Or give him my information? I have some information on Mr. Thrall. He was a contemporary of my great grand parents and I have collected some info, etc., but wish to learn more about his association with Quantrill. Thanks. My current email is: mooncrow@comcast.net

Hi i was doing some research on R.P. Thrall and found out he's related to me on my father's side. My name is Gregori Thrall and my father was John Thrall. Any information regarding our ancestor would be appreciated.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say my first cousins, Shawn Thrall (Donlad's son), and Gregori Thrall are previous posters here. I have heard of this link through my Uncle Chris. I used to have a picture and link to an old culpeper paper article regarding R.P. but can no longer find it online. I believe this story to be accurate and also would like to point out this link, as our former relative is known to be a painter as well.

any further info would be much appreciated.

I just saw your post and jumped out of my chair! My family has two very large paintings by a R.P. Thrall dated 1874. The first painting is of my GGGrandfather, John Stum and the second is of the Stum farm house and property outside of Maytown, Pa. I have for years tried to find out who R.P. Thrall was. I hope this is our man. I would appreciate any info you would like to share. I can send you a picture of both of the paintings. Thank you, Gretchen and James
