Alternative Records for Birth in 1863 - Trying to Determine Parents

I am curious if anyone knows of any alternative records that can be used to help identify parents from a birth in 1863 in Tuscaraws county?

I am trying to determine parents of James Henry Utterback, born October 28,1863 in Uhrichsville, Tuscarawas, Ohio according to his death certificate. I believe his mother was a Sarah J. Patterson. There is some question as to his father, possibly Arsemous Utterback. However, Arsemous' family moved from OH to IN where he enlisted in the Civil War. After the war he married and had several children in IN, but upon his first wife's death, went back to OH to marry Sarah and moved her and James Henry back to IN, about 13 years after James Henry was born. James Henry is listed as their son in the 1880, and Arsemous is listed as the father on his death certificate, however, he could be a step-son and not biological.

I have looked through most of the books with the Church records from the area, and didn't find anything. Is their copies of newspapers with birth announcements at this time that anyone is aware of? Any other ideas?

Notes
Here a brief explanation of how to read the burial location. GL=Greenlawn FV=Fairview MP=Memorial Park In Fairview or Memorial Park the next letter or number is the section such as, FVE22 that would be Fairview Cemetery, Section E, Lot 22.. Another Example: MP4-122 is Memorial Park Cemetery Section 4 Lot number 122 Another Example GL666 is Greenlawn Cemetery lot number 666, for the most part Greenlawn only has lot numbers, except for GL2 which is known as the horseshoe because of its shape.

Thank you I have all that, most of which I actually posted the documents here on ancestry. None of it proves that Arsemous is a biological father. It only proves that James Henry lived with Arsemous 17 years after he was born, and 13 years after Arsemous and Sarah married. I'm looking for a record at the time of James Henry's birth, like a church record, newspaper clipping--but don't know what is available from this area and time.

You should research Tuscarawas, Cty., Ohio during the CW.

Vital records - marriage, birth, death were frequently stored at the court house. Did the court house burn during the CW??

Was Arsemous Utterback a passing soldier who had a fling with Sarah J. Patterson during the CW??

Are you familiar with Tuscarawas?

Birth records were not kept until 1867.

Civil war pensions received, James Henry was no longer young enough to be considered a dependent for the pension, and is not listed.

Arsemous grew up in Harrison County, OH, and had family is Tuscarawas, so chances are he knew Sarah before his family moved to IN.

Did you order the actual pension records for your civil war ancestor from the National Archives? I did and it contained signed affidavits from individuals present during the birth of all of my Civil War Ancestors children. After Isaac Finney passed his widow Rachel Finney applied for a pension. She had all of the people who were present at the birth of her children sign affidavits which were then used as birth verifications for the pension application. I hope this helps.

Yes, I have his 100+ civil war pension file, no children are actually named in it, they were all grown adults by the time the pension was filed.
