Surnames: Fleck, Rauber, Bollinger
Jean/Johann FLECK and brother Jacob Fleck arrived in Dansville about 1847 from the Tholey area of Saarland(Rhineland Pfalz) Germany. The RAUBER families were also from that area and the FLECK and RAUBER families intermarried a number of times. Stephen RAUBER is the earliesy (about 1700's) and the FLECK family in 1700's.Jean and jacob were half brothers of my Great Grandfather Peter FLECK who settled in Lake Co., Indiana. Would like to exchange. Marlynn

I believe my g-g-grandmother, Ella Grob (b. 1854), married a John Fleck (b. 1851 or 1852?), in the Dansville, New York area. She was born in New York, but her father, Conrad Grob, was born in Prussia. Could my John Fleck be the son of your Jacob or your Jean/Johannes? If so, I'd appreciate any info you have on them. I have found out little myself.

Thanks,
Jill Barrie

I have recently found information about the Rauber families settling in Dansville, NY. They were realetd to Anna Beckes and Stephan Rawer of the area of Linden, Germany. % great grand-children from emigrated from Winterbach or Alsweiler to America arrived in NY around 1847. The children of Anna and Stephan are listed below. I am wondering which Rauber married Fleck.

Anna Rawer
Born: circa 1675
Linden, Duchy of Lorraine
Died: after 1718
(probably) Linden, Duchy of Lorraine

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anna was one of four children of Johannes Backes and {unknown} Staub.

Anna married Stephan Rawer before 1696, possibly in Tholey. The coat of arms of the town is shown here.

Between 1696 and 1718, Stephan and Anna had at least nine children:

1. Elisabeth (1 Jan 1696 - 22 Jun 1769)
She married Johann Schneider (1700-1770)

2. Johann (9 Sep 1697 - 4 Mar 1775)
He married Anna Maria Schneider (b. 1698)

3. Peter (b. 4 Jan 1700)
He apparently died young.

4. Matthias (17 Oct 1702 - 4 Apr 1781)
He married Anna Maria Funck
He remarried to Katharina Schneider (1708-1786)

5. Jakob (21 Jun 1704 - bef 1775)
He married Anna Schneider (b. 1703)
He remarried to Maria Elisabeth Becker (1719-1793)
Jakob worked as a farmer.

Five great-grandchildren emigrated from Winterbach or Alsweiler to America:

Johannes Rauber (1801-1881), who married Katharina Feid (1804-1884).
The family emigrated in 1845, and lived in Wayland, Steuben County, New York.
Jakob Rauber (1810-1891), who married Elisabeth Theobald (1819-1906).
The family emigrated in 1852, and lived in Wellsville, Allegany County, New York.
Nikolaus Rauber (1813-1878), who married Maria Schmidt (b. 1815).
The family emigrated after 1846, and lived in Hornellsville, New York.
Mathias Rauber (1816-1904), who married Margaretha Brück (1818-1892).
The family emigrated in 1852, and lived in Wayland, Steuben County, New York.
Katharina Rauber (1819-1881), who married Peter Gessner (1813-1877).
The family emigrated in 1853, and lived in Perkinsville, Steuben County, New York.

6. Peter (10 Mar 1710 - 1 Jan 1789)
He married Elisabeth Schmid (ca 1712-1770)
Peter worked as a farmer and served as mayor.
Five great-grandchildren emigrated to America (see v. above).

7. Katharina Gertrud (b. 17 Mar 1712)
8. Margaretha (b. 16 Feb 1715)
She married Christian Lauck
9. Anna (b. 25 Jan 1718)

There may have been additional children; according to the Bliesen Familienbuch, four children died in childhood. This may have included some of those listed above, as well as others.

Their children were born in Linden, so the family lived here during that period.

Im a descendant of Stephen Rauber (born 1798) and catherine holzer. Im sure Stephen must have been a great-grand child of Stephan and Anna rawer or at least of close relation. Not sure if anyone can tie the loose ends on who Stephen Rauber (born 1798) parents were? Thanks
