Were there any Bells in Eastport in the early 1800's I am specifically looking for a James Bell & wife Debby. They had a daughter Almira/Elmira born abt 1837 give or take a couple years. She states on her marriage record in Marblehead MA that she was born in Eastport Maine. She married a Nichols from Nova Scotia. You can email me directly if you have any info ehmacisaac@eastlink.ca.
I am hoping someone may have some information in their dtabase to help me out. Thank you

My Almira/Elmira Bell seems to be hard to locate before she married 1st time. She married a Joseph Nigles/Nichols in Marblehead in 1853 where she says she was born in Eastport Maine and parents were James and Debby Bell. She then marries again to a Purdy and comes to Nova Scotia Canada and then marries again to a Connell/O'Connell from same area. Every record says she was from Eastport Maine. The only difference on one record of marriage it states her father was a William Bell. I tend to go with the 1st record of marriage as she was only 21 at the time and that more than likely is right. Were there Native Americans in Eastport I wonder? Could she have been Native? Is that why there is not record of her birth as they only kept oral tradition? Questions? But I will keep an eye out for your Margaret Bell
