Dear Moti,
I am looking for Petras Stasaitis, born 1901, Girkai, Lithuania. He arrived Buenos Aires 26.10.1927, ship Demerara from Cherburgo. He was my Grandmother's unkle.
Could you possibly give me advice how to do research in Argentina?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Veronika

I've also got a Lithuanian relative (Zvingis / Balvocus) who went to Argentina.
Lived at 571 Albercober Street, Buenos Areas
Not sure when they arrived.
They left in 18 August 1918 aboard the HMS Deseado to Liverpool, and then came to the USA from there. Also looking for advice for Argentina...

Thank you Joseph for your help. I sent a request to the Museo del Inmigrante in Buenos Aires and recieved the same information. After that I tried Facebook.com and fortunately found Petras's daughter.

Did they send you any original docs or anything?

I didn't ask for documents, only information by e-mail.
You may also send a letter to the Lithuanian centre in Buenos Aires(centrolituano@hotmail.com). They tried to help me in my research.
Who are you looking for?

@verinika - sorry it took so long to respond. Just got some time to start working on stuff and realized I'd never responded. There were two separate name sets.
Zvingis was one set. Number of women were there with my great grandfather who were his cousins or sisters. The others were Balvocius / Balwoczus , who were relatives of my great-grandmother. Argentina is a big chunk that I have to dig into.

Good link. Looks like it pulls the data from http://www.cemla.com .
Its interesting as it appears to cover 1914.
I have a ship record with them on it departing Buenos ares in 1914 ( http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/27635148/person/5029966484 - deseado ship record ) but it doesn't appear to be in this database. Or its misspelled as seems to happen a lot with eastern euro names. The inbound usa records list their Buenos Ares ship record.

Let me dig into the Zvingaite ladies...
