Trying to find Elizabeth's maiden name. Elizabeth was born abt 1868 in Newfoundland. married George L. Marsh born 1864 in Conn. they lived in No. Hempstead LI. had one son Edgar. in 1940 census Elizabeth is living with her son in bay Ridge Brooklyn NY.also would like to know where she is buried. I've been searching can't find this information.

What is the 1940 street address? Sometimes you can hit paydirt searching newspaper archives for those.

The address was 561-53rd St. Brooklyn, ny

Gave it a shot at Fulton Postcards and came up blank. Perhaps someone else may have a suggestion.

Wish I could have done more. My great grandfather was a resident on 50th St. and worked as a stevedore on the Brooklyn docks.

You might inquire about interment records at Holy Cross Cemetery. If she were Catholic and maintained Brooklyn residency until her passing, there's a chance you might find her there.

Have you tried locating birth cert for Edgar L. in New Haven, Conn, where he listed as his birth in 1940 census? It might have his mother's maiden name. Also, might want to look at "Moulton" as this is her (probable) niece's name in the 1910 census who was also born in Canada. She could be a male sibling's daughter. As for burial you might want to look towards North Hempstead, Nassau county area as this was last location listed before George L. passed away & might be where both Elizabeth & George can be located. Thank you, I tried the Moulton name got nothing. I will look into the cemeteries.
