looking for any help in the marriage of James beattie and Elizabeth Hannah. and children born there. Sources say they marr 1858, yet they only have children b in NZ from 1873-1886 If Elizabeth Hannah was born in 1835 that would make her still having children at the age of abt 50 . Where are any children between 1858 1873. Something dosent seem to add up. Looking for my daughters partner (a Beattie) here in NZ

Thankyou so much for that especially the date, ( I had a feeling the date of 1858 must of been wrong.) as James (I think his second name was Richard) and Elizabeth had their 1st child in NZ so they must of have arr at NZ between 1870 and 1873 when Alexander were born. James brother William John Beattie also came to NZ and farmed in Geraldine. South Canterbury. He also had a son Alexander born there in 1873!

Have you tried searching for a Will/Probate for James Beattie? James Beattie might have included all his children in his Will. Search Archway http://www.archway.archives.govt.nz/

Hi All

Interesting to see this posting, as we are connected to William John Beattie.

Their parents according to Sarah's Death record are Alexander Beattie and Elizabeth Brunn

William's death Record has parent's listed as unknown. William came out to New Zealand in 1863

Sarah came out to New Zealand in 1865 with an other brother Robert, who seems to have lived in the same area for a period, I have been unable to locate what happened to him.

There was also another sister to married a George McCullough. A son Samuel came out to New Zealand and was sponsored by Sarah's husband John Bell.

Their is also another brother Alexander who apparently went to the USA. Have yet to find out more information regarding him.

We do have more information that we can share.

Regards
