Looking for info on John and Elizabeth (McNeal) Hutchison. John was born in Scotland at an unknown date and locale. Elizabeth was born in Londonderry on 14 Apr. 1809. They married in Aghadowey Londonderry in 1831 and had the following kids:
James in 1840
Elizabeth Jane in 1843 (married David Love from Donegol)
Rebecca in 1847
John in 1848
Margaret in 1851
Annie in 1853
Samuel in 1856
Robert (unknown), Susan (unknown), William (unknown, but assumed to be the eldest).
The elder John died in 1857, and in 1871, Elizabeth came to America (Altoona, PA) with her kids. William stayed back in Ireland and is listed as still living in 1895 as per Elizabeth's obituary.

Surnames: Ann Jane Anderson
Ann Jane Anderson born abt. 1822 said her father was born in Scotland. She might have gone to PA. after she married or she might have married John Hutchinson in PA. A child John Hutchinson was born 1847 in PA. Also a daughter was born named Elizabeth or Lizzie Hutchinson. At sometime John Hutchinson died. Ann said she was born in County Derry, Ireland. She then moved to Quincy, Illinois and married John Knox May 7, 1849. They all moved to Chariton County, Missouri along with the two Hutchinson children John and Lizzie or Elizabeth.

John Knox said he was born in Ireland for one census. He died in 1879. Little is known about his past.

I have a Robert Hutchison/Hutcheson/Hutchinson (all forms appear in his documents down the years) b Abt 1826 Garvagh, Errigal parish, south of Coleraine, Co Londonderry, Ireland. He was in Scotland by at least 1847. His father was Hugh Hutchison/Hutchinson/Hutcheson and his mother Elizabeth Johnston. I believe that Robert was Roman Catholic, but am not sure. Garvagh is rendered as Garbhachadh in the Gaelic and Robert's pronounciation of the shortened form was taken down as Garback by the enumerator in a census in Scotland. I have found a Hugh Hutchinson at Mettican Glebe just outside Garvagh in Griffiths Valuation Rolls for Ireland for the mid 1800s. But I do not know if this is in any way connected. Arghadowey is neighbouring parish to Errigal. Any links or thoughts would be well received and reciprocated.

Hi Ronald. I tried several years ago to reply to your mother Rosemary Powers but her email was no longer active. She was still searching for info on John Knox and Ann Jane Anderson-Hutchinson-Knox, both born Londonderry, Ireland. I have a long Knox genealogy of them from when they immigrated to Quincy, Illinos and then Brunswick, Missouri. I have visited their old farm sites and their grave sites in Bethel Cemetery in Brunswick, MO. I have most of the individual genealogy on the children. I am the great-grandson of John Knox's son William H. Knox who moved his wife and six children to Indian Territory (Oklahoma) in the 1890's. William and his wife are buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
In my youth I lived very close to the farms of William H. Knox and his first born son, James S. Knox's farm between Edmond, OK (my place of birth) and Yukon, OK. They are my direct ancestors of John and Anna Knox.
The information I have I can send you on a disk if you have Microsoft Word.
I would like to know about Anna Jane Hutchison's marriage to her first husband John Hutchison, father of their son and daughter, how they met, when and where they were married, and what happend to John Hutchison. I have the US Census, Chariton County, records of Anna Jane from the 1870-1920's. Do you know how Anna met John Knox and where?
I have confirmed their marriage by a magistrate at the Quincy, Illinois Circut Court House in 1849, their 1850 US Census Record in Columbus County, their US Census records of 1860, 1870, 1880 in Chariton County, Missouri.
I am still trying to locate the names of John Knox's parents and what county they lived in Londonderry, Ireland and when and from where, when and how they came from Scotland. I have many names of Knox's in Londonderry from the Plantation Period from 1610 to the great famine in 1850's. Once I have John Knox's parents names and Anna Jane Anderson's parent's name I can finish my family genealogy.
My brother and I have located the ship that John Knox and his brother James Knox came from Londonderry to Philideplhia on but we have yet to find any record with the parent's name and nothing on Anna Jane's parents. Do you?
This is part of what I know and what I would like to find out. I hope you can help and we can exchange genealogy. My ultimate hope is to find a photograph of John and Anna Jane.
I live in San Diego, California. Find me on Facebook.com and www.rbarryknox.com
end........................

Robert, Yes my mother (Rosemary) passed about five years ago. This is great to find contacts that she started and she would have loved to follow up on. Well I am a rookie and the learning curve is straight up, but I see why my parents were into digging up Roots. I have not went whole hog and bought a subscription to ancestry, I have looked around a lot and created a public family tree. This is probably redundant to just dive in a do it was fun. What is your recommendation? As for your information and how I can help. I did find that in 1860 census John Knox used the spelling of "Jno Knox" I will look for you on Facebook, and have already found your web site, very Cool. This way we can trade information, and compare notes. Then we can make a plan of attack. Maybe someone else has the data that we need. Have you created a family tree that I can view? My tree is "powers family tree". My e mail address is RPowersUnLtd@earthlink.net
