Seeking information on a John Davison that may have lived in Franklin County prior to moving to SC mid to late 1700s'. His wife's name was Margaret and we don't know whether she was from PA or not. His children have names common to the Davison's in Franklin County such as Robert, Elias, Jacob, Issac, Hugh ,etc. He died in 1814 in York County, SC and according to family lore, fought in the French-Indian wars in NY State. Some of his children were believed born in PA in the early 1760s'. He moved to SC during the period that Scotch-Irish families were moving south to the piedmont sections of North and South Carolina. Wondered if anyone had a John Davison in their tree that departed PA in the time period mentioned. Thanks for any information.

My husband is descended from Charles W. Davison who died in Shelby Co. AL in 1854. He is youngest son of John Davison and his second wife, Margaret. John Davison died in York Co. SC about 1815. He came to York, SC about 1765 as he purchased land on that date in Craven County in Province of South Carolina. He came from PA and we think he was from Lancaster County that later became Franklin County. We have found Elias Davison born in same time frame as our John and died in Franklin County, PA. He named his sons in same naming pattern as our John Davison who came to SC. Our John named his first son Elias and this Elias was born 1761 in PA and died 1816 in York Co. SC. We have been searching for the father of our John Davison. Do you know who the name of the father of Elias Davison who is buried in Franklin Co. PA? Please reply to my Email Address for more information on family of John Davison who died in York Co. SC. Thank you. Ruth Brimner Davidson

Hi Bob, John Davison came from Cumberland Co., PA and settled in Mecklenburg Co., NC by 1765. In that year he purchased land and was called "of Cumberland Co., PA". Later, the land he purchased was located in York District and later York Co., SC where he died in 1816. I am a descendant of two of his grandchildren, children of his son, Jacob. Would love to know how to fit in the family. After removing to Alabama and Mississippi, the family used the "Davidson" spelling.

Witness: D. Gordon, Thomas Moore, and Robert Hanna.
Signed Richard Barry, John Davison, NATHAN COOPER'S mark, and MARGRET DAVISON's mark. Witness oath September 21, 1790 Thomas Moore to Andrew Barry.

Do you have any information on Margaret's first husband or, for that matter, on Margaret.

I descend from Nathan Cooper. Any help you may provide would be greatly appreciated.
