Way to mark "Done" or "Verified" on a person's record

Is there a way to indicate that a person's record on your tree is complete?

Since I've started working on my tree back before 2005 I feel a percentage of the records I have worked on is rather complete and I would like a way to mark the record as such so I can view my progress.

Is there a way to do this or if not how do I make this suggestion?

Thank you!

Lisa,

While this is doable in several genealogy packages I know of no way to do it when it comes to online trees.

The only thing I can think of is maybe varying the person's name so you can tell at a glance if they are completed.

For example:

If a man (John Doe) has a complete record you could change his name to Mr John Doe.

Likewise for a female (Mary Doe) you could change her name to Miss Mary Doe.

That way the index could easily tell you who is completed and who isn't.

I'll admit, it is a kludgy workaround but is all I can think of at the moment.

You can jerry-rig a tagging system that shows in all (individual, family, family group sheet, pedigree) views fairly well, except for list view. In the list view you have to tick the thumbnail link on each individual link to view it.

1) Upload a picture of a solid color block,(your choice and there are millions on the internet), to one of your "completed" individual records. It must be made the primary picture for this person. You should cut down the size of the color pic file to the bare minimum before uploading to your tree.

2) You can now attach the same color block picture to every completed individual record, it always has to be the primary picture for each individual.

3) If you're really into color coding you can set up a whole system, specific to whatever you need. Go crazy.

Another not so pretty method.

I CAP the SURNAME of my direct lines. This makes it easy to follow those lines in any view, particularly the list view.

Another work around might be to CAP the GIVEN name on all completed records. If your priority is to have something immediately visible in the list view, this might work, providing the names in your records aren't already CAPPED.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I appreciate it and will try a few off them.

Sounds like I'm not the only person who ran into this problem LOL
