Looking for any information on Louise Jane (Luella) Fox, born 1855. She married Cornelius Haight Hill and lived in Wapello, Louisa County, IA, for several years around 1898-1900. She may have had a younger sister named Mary. I'm especially interested in Luella's parents.
Cornelius and Luella had 5 children: Maude, Ada, Nellie, Marguerite, and William John.
Please e-mail me & Thanks in advance for your time.

Update - I still wish to exchange information regarding Luella (Fox) Hill, but I have found more information since my first posting. I hope this update will provide something that "clicks" with other Fox hounds or Louisa County researchers out there.

Luella was born August 1855 in either Louisa County or Marion County Iowa. Her mother was Margaret BEVANS and her father has been variously identified as James or Matthew FOX. His name might also have been Andrew M. FOX. Mr. Fox and Margaret Bevans Fox had at least three girls: Luella (or Louise) Jane, Mary Ellen (b. abt. 1858), and Emily Belle (b. abt. 1859). For reasons unknown (death or divorce?), the parents were separated and Mr. FOX disappears. I have not been able to find Margaret or Luella in the 1860 census. However, Margaret Bevans Fox remarried to Samuel Steven WILDER in 1867 in Muscatine County, Iowa.

In the 1870 census, Luella turns up in the household of Thomas MARSDEN in Elm Grove Twp., Louisa County, IA. I believe she was a live-in helper, but not an adopted child. Either way, she must have become a vital part of the Marsden household because both Thomas and his wife left money and goods to "Luella Fox" in their wills. In addition, Luella's first daughter was given the same name as Thomas Marsden's wife: Mary Jane.

In 1876, Luella married Cornelius "Neil" Haight HILL. (I believe Luella's sister, Mary Ellen FOX, married Neil's brother John William HILL.) The Hill family resided in/near Wapello, Louisa Co., IA, from that point until about 1903, when they moved to Oquawka, Henderson Co., IL. In about 1913, Neil and Luella again moved; this time to Keithsburg, Mercer Co., IL, where they lived until their deaths in the early 1930s.

Neil and Luella had the following children, all born in Louisa County, Iowa:
William John, b. 1877 (m. Mary KING of Hannibal, MO)
Mary Jane, b. 1880 (m. Arthur L. GILLIS of Mt. Pleasant, IA)
Nellie Ann, b. 1881 (m. Frank DEVORE of Oquawka, IL)
Maud(e) L., b. 1883 (m. Edward RADMACHER of Henderson or Warren Co., IL)
Marguerite Louise, b. 1885 (m. Charles Oscar JERN of Oquawka, IL)
Infant son, b. & d. 1887
Ada Victoria, b. 1889 (m. G. J. MEYER, Charles WILLIAMS, and Barney BRINDLE, not necessarily in that order)
Bessie Lyle, b. 1890 (m. Charles KINSEY of Keithsburg, IL)
