Hello.....I have been searching my family in the Faeroe Islands and a good website is the Danish Database http://ddd.dda.dk/ddd_en.htm. If it is not in English, there should be either Amer flag or British flag over on the left. Click it for English.

You can also go to some of the links on my family page http://mysite.verizon.net/reso3aa7/. I have some pictures and music from a cousin I found in Denmark. There is also a link to Danish Family History with Hugh

I would not have found my family without help. Good Luck.

I fouund an Ole Eliasen at the address below.....I 'm afraid that I don't know what the numbers to the right mean. Maybe someone else can help.

Hi, there.

Am sorry, but that list is just an index from a book, which is about another village here, called Eiði.

I have some info about this man though:

His family is from Fuglafjørður, yes. His father, Eliesar Eliasen was born in 1864 and died in 1950. He married a woman named Anna Jacobsen (1856-?), from the nearby village of Norðragøta (Nordregøthe 1860's Danish).

Bertel was 2nd of 5 children. His older brother Ole Jacob Eliasen, was born in 1887, and died in Canada in 1918.

The three remaining siblings, Malena, Jacobina and Hans Elias, married in the Faroes, and got 9, 10 and 6 children respectively.

Hope this has helped a bit. :)

Sincerely,

Johan Petur Dam

First of all I am so glad I found this!!!!

I am the great grand daughter of Jakup Eliassen. When he moved to Nova Scotia it was changed to John Ellison. He married my great grandmother in 1916 I think who was Whilhelmina Murray from Aberdeen, Scotland. They had a daughter in 1918 named Whilhelmina I think and his wife was pregnant for my grandmother when he died in on a fishing boat in 1920. My grandmother is Olive Ellison (she married a McDonald in the 1930s). My dad is her 5th child (the oldest died as a toddler). My name is Joanne Ellison McDonald and I was named after her. I am the youngest of her grandchildren and she died last July at the age of 91.

I have had such a hard time researching his family since we had very little information to go on and obviously I don't speak Dutch. But I am so glad I found this for the family tree I've been working on for 2 years!
