My great, great, grand father was Theodore Peter Dehn. His wife's name was Cristina (nee) "Kaiser". He was born in October of 1787 in Baden, Baden, Grand Duchy, S. W., Germany. The area where his was born is now known as "Wuerttemberg". He emigrated to America approximately 1840. He spent his entire life in Baltimore, Maryland. He died in June of 1873. He and his wife are buried at the "Western Cemetery" in Baltimore. I have a list of a great many of his ancestors. Cristina died in August of 1880. I am hoping to make personal contact with another "Dehn", exchange information. According to the 1850 census in Baltimore,
Theodore's occupation was a carpet weaver. According to the 1860 census, his occupation was listed as a Doctor. His obituary in the Baltimore Sun Paper, listed him as Doctor at the time of his demise. His sons names were John, William, Lewis, Frederick. Frederick Dehn moved to Atlantic City, where he opened the very first car repair garage, and also began the first car rental/or perhaps taxi service in N. J. Lewis lied about his age (17) and joined the north to fight in the civil war. He likewise lived his entire life in Baltimore Maryland. I have a great deal of information re; where he fought, when he was captured, made a prisoner of war, when and where he was confined. When and where he was released. I also have a copy of his enlistetment/discharge papers from the civil war with his actual signature affixed to them. If you are at all interested, please respond.

It seems you have lots of information on the Dehn name. My grandfather, Benjamin, was one of 12 children of Carl Reinhold Dehn and Johanna Fredericka Augusta Dehn (nee Trapp) who immigrated from Germany (I believe) to the United States and settled in North Dakota. Could your Dehns be a part of my Dehns too? I would love to share any information you may have. Thank you. Nancy

HOPE THIS MESSAGE GETS TO YOU. BASED ON THE NAMES FREDRICKA AND AUGUSTA I SUSPECT SOME RELEATIONSHIP AS MY G/G/GRANDFATHER NAMED TWO OF HIS CHILDREN FREDERICK AND AUGUST. I DON'T LIKE WORKING ON THE INTERNET SINCE IT TAKES FOREVER TO GET THINGS DONE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONTACT ME AT MY E-MAIL ADDRESS I WOULD BE DELIGHTED TO GIVE YOU AS MANY DETAILS AS I HAVE. MY G/G/GRANDFATHER "THEOFORE PETER??? DEHN" WAS BORN IN 1797 IN BADEN BADEN GRAND DUCHY S. W. GERMANY. IMIGRATED TO U.S.A. IN 1840.

Edward - Thank you so much for your response. However, the names Fredericka and Augusta are my great-grandmother's two middle names. She was a Trapp who married a Dehn. The information I have is that Carl Reinhold Dehn married Johanna Fredericka Augusta Trapp. They had 12 children: Fred Frank Leo, Emma Maire, Wilhelm Frederick, Charles Leopold, Paul Max, Arthur Alfred, Adeline Hedwig, Walter Benjamin, Benjamin Reinhold [my grandfather], Alfred Alexander, Lillie Amanda, and Eugene Waldemar. Do any of your records show any of these names? If so, please let me know. Thank you for your response. I look forward to hearing from you again soon. Nancy.

My grandmother was josephine dehn. Her family owned baths at Baden Daden. She attended a convent school run by Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Paris. She married Gregor Dauch from Wurzburg? in the second half of the 19th century. They immigrated and settled in Cincinnati. My father, Emil Dauch, was the youngest of their ten children, born in 1890. I would like information about ancestors, especially in Europe.

EMILIE, IN YOUR MESSAGE YOU MENTIONED THAT JOSEPHINE DEHN OPERATED BATHS IN BADEN DADEN. I DON'T KNOW IF (DADEN) WAS A TYPE-O OR IF THERE REALLY IS A PLACE CALLED BADEN DADEN. I AM ASSUMING THAT IT WAS A TYPE-O & YOU MEANT TO TYPE BADEN. F.Y.I., MY G/G/GRANDFATHER THEODORE P? DEHN POSSIBLY (VON DEHN) OR (VON DINE) WAS BORN IN BADEN BADEN GRAND DUCHY S.W., GERMANY (WHICH LATER BECAME KNOWN SIMPLY AS BADEN BADEN,IN OCTOBER OF 1797. LIKEWISE JOSEPHINE'S NAME MAY HAVE ALSO BEEN VON DEHN OR VON DINE. THEY NAMED IT BADEN BADEN TO DISTINGUISH IT FROM THE TOWN OF BADEN WURTTEMBURG. BADEN BADEN WAS THEN & IS STILL FAMOUS FOR THE HOT NATURAL BATHS & IS LOCATED IN OR VERY NEAR THE "BLACK FORREST!" I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS GOING TO BE MAKING A TRIP TO GERMANY TO DO HER OWN ANCESTRIAL RESEARCH. SHE HAS OFFERED TO DO AS MUCH RESEARCH FOR ME AS SHE POSSIBLY CAN. IF YOU WANT TO PROVIDE ME WITH AS MANY DETAILS AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN RE; NAMES/BIRTH DATES/TOWNS/ETC; I WILL (ON THE PRETENSE OF HAVING HER BELIEVE THAT THIS IS PART OF MY FAMILY) ASK HER TO LOOK INTO THE FACTS AND FIND OUT AS MUCH AS SHE CAN. IF THIS SOUNDS GOOD TO YOU CONTACT ME AT rhazaam@fastol.com INSTEAD OF THROUGH THIS SUPER SLOW SYSTEM. REGARDS! E. S. DEHN SR.
