I heard Ancestrey.Com would be offering their new autosomal test to the general public around the end of summer. Has Ancestry made any decision yet when the "invitation only" period will end? Though I have been tested I'm anxious to get my parents and siblings tested.

It's difficult to imagine the beta period logically ending before we've had a chance to test drive an improved interface with a search engine, better annotating features, etc.

On the other hand, what we have now is really all Ancestry plans to offer. :( Maybe the beta period is really just a period when they build up the database in order to be competitive.

And will Ancestry really bring this out of beta without letting us have our raw data, like at other companies? (Another feature that may need testing.) I know we paid less so we're getting less, but surely the rate will go up after beta, and surely Ancestry will want to be competitive and offer the raw data?

I used to be anxious for the beta to end so I could test everyone... now I'm anxious for the beta to end so I can decide where to get the rest of my family tested.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to offer the test to the public, people who don't have an Ancestry account want get all the advantages of the test. From what I'm seeing one of the main advantages of Ancestry test is the public tree that come along with the person who has tested and some people don't like Ancestry. But than again why not test them for $249 dollars and make a buck.
