please not that it is not the entire 1881 census, just a vast proportion of it. Someone may do a search on it and come up with nothing.

if this is the case post a message on the board some kindly person who has the entire 1881 census may be more than willing to locate the info.

For 1901 census info visit the 1901 uk census boeard it contains upto date info and a list of names from 1901 census is begining to appear, you never know you family may just be listed there.

I find that strange! Would you mind telling me who and where they are? In the main they are superior to the 1901 Census that appears to be using outdated equipment and is very restricted in its timing and returns -only allowing a maximum of a mere THREE HUNDRED results. This system causes overuse and clogging. I had to conduct over a hundred searches to locate 346 people -searches that others could have been conducting if I had the results from 1 search as is common practice. Nowhere else can I find a search capped below THREE THOUSAND

You're welcome, Rootsweb is nothing to do with me its just that I cannot afford to purchase anything and rely on what is available online that includes the help I get from others. In return I like to do what I can for others. I too have suffered from spelling errors online particularly place spellings for which 1901 census is very bad. I've found the best results come from the minimal of information -gradually adding if nothing is first found or using ***** in place of some letters.
Good luck
Alec
