The Maule Family & Clan Ramsay, possible links to castles etc

Firstly, I'd like to apologise if I have posted in the wrong messageboard - I have tried to find the 'Surname' board, but being new to using messageboards it has so far eluded me - any pointers would be most useful!

Anyway, I believe that the Maule family are part of Clan Ramsay, and I was wondering if this is correct or how this actually occurred?

Incidentally, the Maule family were closely linked several castles in Scotland (the governors of Brechin Castle, owners of Kellie Castle, and a descendant being the current inhabitant of Edzell Castle), and therefore Clan Ramsay may possibly have links with these locations. The Maules were very active during the Jacobite Revolutions, in particular the 1715, going into exile with James VIII thereafter.

Kind regards

Hello James:

So far, you are on topic.

The Maule surname board is located here:
http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=s...

There is a box at the bottom of this message page that is a search engine to find boards... just type in "maule" without quotation marks and you will see what the results are.

Alternatively, at the top of the screen there is a bar of links and clicking "message boards" will bring you to a page that will help you to locate other boards of interest.

The Ramsays of Dalhousie married Maule in the 13th century and got Brechin, which is today the main castle. The Dalhousie castle is sold to a hotel chain.
