Ancestry App - iPad2

Hi - I have installed the Ancestry App on my iPad2 & all seems to work okay. However, when I DL my family tree frm Ancestry.com, the tree is not complete or useable as many family members are missing without any rhyme or reason. The same data looks fine when viewed online or using FTM 2012.

Could it be that my tree has become too large? It conatins 2005 people, 600 marriages and is 4,615KB in size. I have deleted and reloaded the app, compacted my file, deleted the online tree and uploaded it again, all with no help. The only "strange" thing is see is when I log out and the log back into Ancestry.com. The app sees the correct number of people (2005) and I see them being downloaded. From there, the app moves to processing and there the number process exceeds the 2005 people downloaded.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

I am just off phone to Ancestry Support. They have informed me that there is a problem with iphone 5.0 and Ancestry and they suggested waiting for a new Ancestry App that will be appearing at some point in the future. This suggested to me that they will not be fixing the existing Ancestry App so we will all have to be patient. I am sorry about that because I thought that it was a great piece of software. Never mind, what do they say, 'patience is a virtue' or something like that!.

Thanks for the info... I have been busy & have not called them. I have however, submitted an email problem report and have yet to have them even acknowledge it.

Thanks, again.

Hi, I am having the same problem with my ipad and Ancestry App. Just since last night, everything disappeared before my eyes! When I went online via my pc, Ancestry appeared to have crashed and I could not access it until this morning. Now I have nothing on my App tree and reinstalling etc etc does no good except like above..I get only bits of ??? someone elses shared tree, even though it said it was downloading my correct number of people. My tree is not big..less than 1000...so I don't believe that is the issue, I think something to do with the crash last night. Would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Ps, mine is the first ipad and never had problems with that App before now.

The current Ancestry App broke with the up-grade to Apple iOS5. My App worked fine until I up-graded to iOS5 and it has not worked since. Most of my other iPad Apps have been upgraded, but apparently Ancestry had not tested there App prior to the release of iOS5.

Thank you to all who posted regarding this issue. I have the same problem as you with the new upgrade on the Ipad2 operating system. I assumed it was because my tree was too large with over 2500 names. I have a few large photo files that I uploaded to Ancestry and assumed that may also be the issue. Before the tree disappeared completely I had duplicate names appear on the Ipad2 screen for my wife and boys.I deleted the tree and re-upped it to Ancestry. Now I have nothing after it appears to upload the files. I also wondered whether I needed to change the name of the tree as the previous upload was too similar.
It would be nice if the new version would allow for deletion of other trees as you can do with the sample tree. It would also be nice to save the file to the Ipad2 and not always need to download the tree.

After 2 weeks, I finally got a reply from Ancestry Support. Their response is as follows - "The issue with the blank index coming up after download completes is a known issue that is currently being worked on by our app developers. We hope to have an update out soon that addresses the current problems within the app, but we appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime."

At this point, all we can do is wait. The iPad app is a nice touch and I hope they can get it, FTM 2012 and the Ancestry.com web app all playing nice together.

Thx

Glad to hear it's not just me. I'm certain they will fix it since the app was simply stellar before IOS 5. Ancestry always listens to customers. Hope we get a notification.
