Montgomery's in N. Ireland
I have been trying to build my family tree for some years now but can't get any further back than approx 1861, the marriage of my ggrandfather John who was the son of Charters Montgomery, it just seems that no documentary evidence exists apart from what I already have.Is there anyone out there who has a similar interest, either from N. Ireland or originating from N. Ireland so we can compare notes.

Montgomerys in N. ireland
Lovely to hear from you and sorry for not replying sooner. It sounds as if you and I are in the same boat, plenty of fishing but no catching. Hopefully one day that elusive piece of information will appear. I seem to get plenty from the Montgomery Web site in USA but very little that I can tie up, also very little from home. I don't know if I ever mentioned it anywhere before, N. Ireland is a country of approx 1,500,000 people, the telephone book contains 830 Montgomery entries and I can only claim connection with four of them.
John, since I posted you my last response, I've received Robert Snrs marriage [to Mary Montgomery, widow, nee Taylor] certificate & it states his father was Samual Montgomery from Ballymore & Mary's father was Robert Taylor.
Hope this is of some help. They married 24 Dec 1846 in the Church of Tandragee.

Re: Montgomery's in N. Ireland
I am John A. Montgomery (PO Box 609; Blythewood, SC 29016 (USA). My (US) ancestors (Nathaniel and Wife Jeleba Royal sailed from N. Ireland - from Londonderry, I believe ~1743) I was not able to find any reference to them in Belfast years ago but was told the "Linen Company"(?) files may hold something. Jeleba died enroute to Charleston, SC and Nathaniel returned later to settle his estate and died before he could return to Charleston. If anyone has any record of them in N. Ireland, I would love to get that information.
