I am searching for information on Owen and Hannah Jones. They came to Vermont from Wales in 1904. They had three sons, Robert, Hugh and William. They went to Poultney, Vermont, because Hannah Jones had a sister living there. Her last name was Hughes. These are my grandparents I am looking for any information. Thank You

Sheila: There is a Hannah H. Jones 1868 - 1952 buried in the Poultney Cemetery, she is in section DA. She is with William J. 1871 - 1954, & Richard E. 1908 - 1953 and his wife Edith Flack 1912 - 1989. Don't know if this helps.

I have been researching my husband's family in Poultney, VT. I was interested in the obit you posted, not because we are related, but to find out more about George Hughes the son of Susan Jones and John Hughes, who was listed as living in Syracuse at the time of his mother's death. My husband's grandparents lived with a George and Margaret Hughes in Syracuse from 1907-1908. In a diary, they were referred to as Uncle George and Aunt Maggie but I don't know if they were related or whether this was just a term of affection. Margaret Hughes out lived her husband by many years. I know they had one daughter, Helen. In the 1920 census they had a nephew, Howard McIntock, living with them. They also lived in Utica for awhile.
My husband's grandfather was John James Thomas who was born in Barneveld, Trenton, Oneida County. His wife, Mary Catherine Evans was born in Bangor PA but her parents moved to Poultney, Vt. around 1880 where her father, William Evans, died soon after. Her mother then married Eben Jones. Mary Catherine lived in Poultney most of her life prior to her marriage to John. If any of this rings a bell, please let me know.

Re: Jones family and Poultney, Vermont
I'm jumping in a bit late, but my husband's family David Jones married to Anna williams lived in Poultney VT when my father in law, Arvon Lloyd Jones, was born in 1908. Anything familiar? I know someone has done his family on paper at least.
Thanks

Here is what I found in the 1910 Vermont Census, Rutland County, Poultney Sheet 6. Although it says the mother has 4 living children, only 3 are listed. Perhaps the 4th is Arvon Lloyd?
