I am working on the HOWE family that lived in Lewisport, KY.
Eliakim and his sons Oscar, Albert, Andrew and Guy. After Eliakim passed away his wife Sarah married Samuel Pell.
Samuel was the sheriff at one time. The HOWE's had a grocery store in Lewisport.Sarah and Samuel raised the HOWE
sons. Thank you for the Hancock County page and your help.
Sarah [Deane] Howe married Samuel B. Pell, as his second wife, in 1847. She died 9 May 1877 Hancock Co KY and is buried in Lewisport,KY Cemetery. She was born 19 May 1809.By her marriage to Eliakim Howe she had seven children, 4 of whom were Andrew ca 1829, Guy ca 1832, Oscar ca 1834 and Albert C. ca 1836. Albert married Martha Morgan 1869.
Elizabeth Curtis was the first wife of Samuel B. Pell. She was born 1796 in NJ and d 29 October ca 1841-44 and is buried at Lewisport Cemetery. Her father was a Quaker civil engineer John Curtis. Pellville KY named for S.B.Pell.
In 1973 Hal W. Hayden wrote: "...Samuel B. Pell. He used to visit us in Lewisport. He left years ago. He was a half-brother to my father, James W. Hayden..." This S.B. Pell is Samuel Bauldauf Pell b ca 1856 KY and married Elizabeth D. Lewis 1878, son of William Curt Pell and Mary Bauldauf of Lewisport.
William Curt Pell b OH d 1858 m1 Elizabeth R. Howe and their children were William Curtis Pell 1848-1891 who married Sallie Eleanor Pate 1870, Thomas Jefferson Pell who d 1919 and married Mary/Mollie Clay Payne 1863, and Sarah E. Pell who died young in 1852. By his second wife, Mary/Mollie Bauldauf,[born 1835, d 1877 at Lewisport]there was one child, Samuel Bauldauf Pell. Mary Bauldauf Pell then married Isaac Bloomer Hayden and they had: James Willliam Hayden 1862-1929 who married Annie Louise Morton, Lillian Hayden 1864-1915, Bessie Hayden 1871-1884 and Robert Bonner Hayden died young 1872. The home of James William and Annie Louise Morton Hayden was on the banks of the Ohio River at Lewisport, an L-shaped brick.
The Descendants of William Pell, Sr. of Kent County, MD by Edna S. Pell, 1968, will be of help. My only interest in Howe and Pell is in the Baldauf-Spiker marriage and their sons-and-daughters-in-law Payne, Pell, Hayden, Butler and Handel.

Re: Pell, Hayden, Baldauf; Butler, Handel
Jacob Baldauf was b ca. 1810 Germany and arrived in USA 1830s to the Pittsburgh, PA area. He went to KY. Family tradition is that he was smuggled out of Germany to avoid military draft, and that he disappeared while on a boat delivering produce for trade to Louisiana. He m Sarah Speicher/Spiker in Germany where their first child Catherine/Kate was born 1830. Their son John was b ca. 1834, some say Maryland and he d 1856 Hancock Co KY. Their dau Mary/Mollie was born 1835 Maryland, d Lewisport, KY, m1 William Curt Pell 1853 and m2 Isaac Bloomer Hayden. Their youngest daugher Sarah/Sallie was born at Pittsburgh, PA 1839 and d Grayville, White Co IL 1930, wife of Thomas Payne Butler whom she m 1857 at Lewisport, KY.
After Jacob's death, Sarah m2 William Mearegard [spelling varies] and they had a daughter Elizabeth L. at Lewisport, KY ca. 1849. She m Michael Handel and she d at Grayville, IL 1897. Sarah appears in the 1860 US Census of Hancock County, KY as Sarah Magart, 49, b Prussia, no occupation, with E. Magart, age 10 b KY.
My relatives are from Lewisport, Ky. My grandfather was Edwin W. Pell m. to Jesse Lee Berry. Edwin had a sister Calla Pell. Their cousin was Rose Pell-Henederson. She was Lewisport's town archivest/historion. As I was in Lewisport a few years ago, I had seen many documents of the Pell family. Rose had in her home. She's since passed on, and I have no idea what happened to her immense collection of data. I would appreciate any info you may have in relation with the Pell's and Blincoe's.
