I am trying to locate the house built by Zadoc Cook of Clarke/Oconee Counties. It was built in 1816 and survived until at least 1988. Cook is buried in the Jackson Cemetery and the house is suppose to be nearby.

There is a house on Ruth Jackson Rd. in Oconee Co. that was built in 1816, I think this is the date on a stone that is in on of the chimey's, that some beleive to be his but some others encluding the couple that own this house say that one of his son's built it. There was a house closer to the cemetery that might have been his but was burned a couple years ago for training for the Oconee Co. Firemen.
You can get more info from Burk Walker, Northeast Georgia Regional Development Center, 305 Research Dr. Athens Ga. 30605, 706-369-5650 They have a 1975 map of all the old houses.
