Surnames: McGrath, Fleming,
I am hitting a wall getting more information on my mothers family. I have traced it back three generations to Syracuse, NY. To one James B. Tucker born ~1838 in Ireland, Immigrated to NY in 1850, was naturalized in 1850 and married his wife Margaret in 1873. From some Syracuse newspaper clippings I found that he was Superintendent at St. Agnes Cemetery until he died in 1902. Then his son Peter Joseph Tucker took over as Superintendent of St. Agnes Cemetery until he died in 1908.
James B. Tucker was married to Margaret McGrath also from Ireland born I believe ~1848. I know that James B. Tucker and his wife and his son Peter and his wife Loretta are buried at St. Agnes Cemetery. There is a family plot there.
I have tried several times to talk to the woman at St. Agnes that I am told can help me locate their gravestones but she is always gone when I call. I am very close to making the leap across the pond back to Ireland but lack the information on James B. Tucker and his Wife such as an accurate birthdate, date of death, birthplace in Ireland, etc. Does anyone have any information about the Tuckers buried there at St. Agnes or perhaps information on the parents of James B, Bartholomew Tucker and Bridget Fleming, or his wifes parents, Patrick McGrath and Mary McGrath who I have a hunch are also buried at St. Agnes.

Any information at all would be very helpful and I would be very grateful!

Chris

Chris

Did you notice on the obit for James Tucker and also for Margaret Tucker that they gave her maiden name as McGraw??
This may be a mistake but its something to consider.

I have some more info that will bring you back another generation on Loretta- You will need to double check yourself to see if the information is correct

The only thing you can do for me is kiss the Blarney Stone for me if you ever get to Ireland.

On the 1880 census for James Tucker-Margaret Tucker's parents are living with them and listed as McGrath. Someone has made a correction to that and says it should be McGraw.

I think this is Margaret in 1870

1870 Census Onondaga County Clay
Mcgraw
Patrick 51
Mary 52
Margrett 21
Anna 11

I have a feeling you are right. Before you clued me in about fultonhistory.com all I had to go on was what I could find on ancestry.com which was that one single US Census form, and it listed her parents last name as McGrath. So I, wrongfully, assumed that was their last name. But last night after browsing through the syracuse papers on fulton I noticed that all the blurbs on her I found kept saying McGraw. So I am now leaning towards McGraw as the last name and will change that soon. I think the census form taker heard it wrong. Maybe it was a real thick irish accent and he/she heard McGraw as McGrath. I believe the paper clippings from several editions listing it as McGraw outweigh the single census form listing it as McGrath. So I will change that. And I was wrong about her sister as well. I have her sister being Mary, but apparently it was Anna.

Another paper article I found from syracuse has Margaret Tucker getting a letter of appointment for her late father, Patrick McGrath. That is how it's listed in the syracuse paper saying that Margaret received a letter of appointment for his estate. So I am back to be unsure if the last name is McGraw or McGrath again. Sigh.

Here is some information-Check it to see if it is right

On the Obit for Peter Tucker his wife is listed as Loretta Walsh-I posted the obits for Thomas Walsh and Anna Webb Walsh that I think are her parents.

Anna Webb Walsh-age 28- is listed on the 1880 census living with her mother-Bridget Webb. She is listed as married but no husband is listed with her. Three children- Mary age 9-Lorette age 7-Arthur age 6

The 1860 census Anna is listed as Ann Webb-
Father is listed as Arther Webb[notice spelling of his first name.

1900 Census Loretta Walsh is indexed on Ancestry as WALCH
She is living with her mother, Anna and brother, Arthur. Anna lists herself as a widow [Thomas is still alive] Also living with them is Mary and Daniel O'Leary and family.

I cannot find Loretta's father, Thomas Walsh, living with them-According to his obit he died in Cleveland, Ohio. Perhaps he left the family??

Loretta Walsh Tucker
Father-Thomas F Walsh
Mother-Anna Webb

Parents of Anna Webb
Father-Arthur Webb
Mother- Bridget_______Webb
