I don't have much information on the Moores, but my great-grandmother was Louisa Moores, who married Joseph Joyce (b. 1832) in Freshwater, Carbonear, NL. I saw many graves with the name Moores in the Freshwater area but wasn't there long enough to explore.

The website, http://ngb.chebucto.org/ , has lots of records for the Moores family at Blackhead, including the 1935 census showing Jabez and Eliza with son, Joseph Vincent, at Blackhead.
In the browsing area of FamilySearch using Canada--Newfoundland and Labrador--Vital Records, I found Charles Andrew Moores' birth and baptism record. See attached image showing his birth of November 5th, 1895, and his baptism on December 3rd, Certificate # 606827 (Line 40).

I had the privilege of knowing (as a co-worker and friend) a Moores from Black Head; she was the daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth Moores. Her brother Alex was a well known and respected businessman in Newfoundland...owner of Ocean Harvesters Fish plant, etc. Her name was Miriam RUTH (later known as Mrs. Eric Taylor) of then Carbonear, Nfld. Any connection?

Hi,
I have a lot of information about the Moores of Blackhead. My many times great grandfather was a planter in Blackhead and present day family still owns family in Blackhead. There is also a connection between the Moores of Blackhead and the Moores of Freshwater.

Hello Carrie, I would be interested to know if you have any information on my 2x Great Grandmother Sarah Moores born about 1809 in Blackhead and died in 1892 in Harbour Grace. She was married to Henry William Trapnell in 1829. I would be interested to know anything about her parents or siblings.

Hi Bev,
I do have information on a Sarah Moores born around 1810 (this could be a baptism date). She is the oldest daughter of John Moores of Blackhead and Elizabeth Tuff of Western Bay. They got married 07 January 1808 in Blackhead. However, the marriage record is under the Carbonear Methodist Church. John and Elizabeth had seven other children; Caroline (1812) m John Hudson; William (1817) m Henrietta Baggs; Jabez (1822) m Olymphus Curtis; Edgar (1822); Clementine (1825) m J. Baggs; Levi (1833) m Honour LeGrow; Mary Elizabeth (1833)**. Most of the spouses are from Blackhead, Broad Cove and Adam's Cove.
John Moores' parents are Jonathan Moores Sr and Sarah?. I don't have the names of Elizabeth Tuff's parents.

I hope you find this helpful. I also have some of the children's names of her siblings. John and Elizabeth would be my 3x great uncle and aunt.
