Hi
I'm looking for information on the Sims family. The furthest back I can go is Patrick Sims (b 1847) marrying a Mary (unknown maiden name b 1858). Their children are:
Thomas b 1886
Mary b 1889
John b 1891
Ellen b 1893
Samuel and James b 1895
Michael b 1898
Matthew b 1899
This information was from the 1901 census and they are living in Ballinakill.
Any help would be brilliant Thanks

Perhaps this is their marriage:
1879 Qtr.Oct-Dec, vol.3, page 273, Abbeyleix, Co Laois - Patrick Sims
1879 Qtr.Oct-Dec, vol.3, page 273, Abbeyleix, Co Laois - Mary Lannon

This is the birth of the twins:
1894 Qtr.Jul-Sep, vol.3, page 260, Abbbeyleix, Co Laois - Samuel Sims
1894 Qtr.Jul-Sep, vol.3, page 260, Abbeyleix, Co Laoais - James Simms
Having the same references numbers normally indicate twins.

Sight of the birth certs will confirm mothers's maiden name.
Sight of the marriage cert will give you father's name for both bride and groom

Details of how to order: www.groireland.ie

Best wishes.

Hi
Patrick & Mary Sims were my great great grandparents.
The son you mention below Matthew (b.1899) is buried in France where he died at the very end of WW1 in the last battle of the war.
He had another brother called Patrick which isn't listed below (probably because he wasn't present in the house on the night of the census) who also died in the first world war. He is buried in Belgium where he was killed at the battle of Ypres in 1917.
If you drop me a mail I can give you more info
Gordon
