I am the 3rd great-grandson of LEMUEL JACKSON, who lived in Warren County between 1820 and 1890. He was born in North Carolina circa 1801, moved to Middle Tennessee where he married Jane Dishman on March 20, 1819. They moved to Warren County not long after their marriage. They had 12 children: James, Joseph, Nancy, Synthiana, Amanda, Lemuel, Frances Marion, America, Jeremiah, Charles, William Penn, and John J. Jane Jackson died in 1849, not long after delivering their last child. Lemuel remarried Eveline Long on April 4, 1852. They had 5 children: Harry C., Thomas Jefferson, Lucy Ann, Asa V., and Lemuel B. I havenot been able to find any information on Lemuel's death or burial.

Lemuel's oldest son JAMES JACKSON (1820-1904) married Martha E. Vernon on June 6, 1857 in Warren County. Their children were:
Mary Elizabeth, who married G.A. Gassaway December 27, 1880;
James Marion, who married Laura B. Jackson October 13, 1885;
Minnie C., who married W.H. Gardner December 24, 1885;
Ella Mae, who married Victor Moulder August 20, 1890;
Joseph RIchard, who married Florence Burch June 25, 1902.

James and Martha are buried in the old Mizpah Cemetery in Warren County.

JOSEPH RICHARD JACKSON (1876-1915) was my great-grandfather.
I have been researching his family for some six years now, and would appreciate any help in locating descendants of his brother and sisters. I am interested in finding anyone who is researching the same Jackson line as I am, and will gladly share any information I have. Most of what I have has come from Western Kentucky University on a trip I made to Bowling Green in 1993.

Several of the Jacksons that helped to start the Jackson Grove Baptist Church are from my family. I am interested in making contact with anyone associated with the church today that can shed some light on what happened to the rest of my ancestors.

I can be reached by email, or by regular mail:

I am specifically looking for Ada Jackson Manning. She was the daughter of James Marion and Laura B. Jackson, both of whom are buried in Mizpah Cemetery in Warren County. She had a brother named Paul who died in 1936 and is buried with his parents.

I do not know what the name of her husband was, but I do know that in the obituary for her brother Paul, she was mentioned as "Mrs. Ada Manning from Indianapolis, Indiana."
Also, one of the pallbearers was listed as Elvis Manning.

I am specifically looking for any information about this particular lady...her father was my great-grandfather's older brother. Thanks for any help you can give! Bobby Jackson

Darlene...

Thanks for your response. My great-grandfather had a brother named James Marion Jackson, born October 31, 1860 in Warren County. He married Laura B. Jackson (possibly a cousin) Ocotber 14, 1885 in Warren County, and they lived in the Bristow District. They had two children: Ada M. Jackson, born in March of 1892 and Paul J. Jackson, born June 8, 1905. Paul died March 6, 1936 at the age of 29 from a bout with pneumonia. In his obituary in the Bowling Green Newspaper of the day, he was listed as living with his parents about 5 miles east of Bowling Green on the Porter Pike. At the bottom of one of the articles (I found two), this paragraph..."Those who served as pallbearers were, Raymond Jackson, Albert Jackson, ELVIS MANNING, Macy Collett, Franklin Robinson and Clarence Robinson." At the bottom of the other article, this paragraph..."In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, MRS. ADA MANNING of Indianapolis, Indiana." Ada Jackson Manning was my grandfather's first cousin, making her my first cousin twice removed (confusing, isn't it?). I am looking for any information on her and her family and their whereabouts today.

Thanks for your help, Darlene!
