Yes, I did. Auguste Delphin's eldest daughter Rosalie, who married a Balthazar, is my great grandmother. I do remember Aunt Ella who lived in Los Angeles.

What specific information do you search for? Now I work on my research project on the Delphin family. Could you tell me a bit about Aunt Ella's daughter? I would be pleased if she contacts me. My e mail is garcon50@yahoo.com.

Hi.

These individuals you mentioned are my ancestors. Louis L. Balthazar is my great grandpa Ernest's grandfather; Auguste Delphin, my great grandma Rosalie's father. What specific information are you looking for?

Hello Donald,
I have been my own family historian for over 10 yrs and decided to research the family history of my friend as a Christmas present. I am researching as much as I can of all her direct lines. I am very happy to find so much online of her family. She is not aware of this research but I will let her know of your wish for contact after I present her with the gift.

Donald,

I do have some questions for you if you can help me. Do you know the marriage dates for August Delphin and Maria Louise Jones? Was your great grandmother named Mary Rosalie b. Apr 1878? Do you know the marriage date for Ella Delphin and Marco Marinovich? Do you have much info on August's parents - Joseph Delphin and Rosalie Unknown? Birth, death, marriage and stories? Any farther back on Joseph and Rosalie?

Thanks for your help.
Mary

Thanks for your immediate reply. It's my pleasure to hear from you. I could share with you much information I have on the Delphin, but sorry, I prefer not to spoil my future book that I expect to be out in a few years. Now I can answer your some questions.

Auguste Delphin and Mariah Jones were married on February 8, 1876; they had nine children on the Cane River in Natchitoches Parish of Louisiana. My great grandmother Mary Rosalie (preferably Rosalie) was born on November 20, 1876. Her younger sister Ella (the 8th child in the family) was married to Marco Marinovich on July 20, 1912.

Auguste's father Joseph came from the French Alps. I also have French records on the Delphin back to 1600's which I will reveal in my future book. Joseph had three children, Joseph Jr (Oct. 3, 1843), Auguste (Feb. 15, 1849), and Rosalie (died very young) by his placage Rosalie Gasparite La Cour whom I still search for more information on. As well, Joseph later married Azalie Derbanne who is said to be daughter of Michel Derbanne - and I still don't know if they had any children. I believe that after his wife died, Joseph lived together with Rosalie until her death between 1870 - 1874. He died in Cloutierville, LA in December 1883.

What is your friend's name? Hopefully, all the information is helpful.

Hello Mary,

Perhaps I should have let my cousin know that Auguste was mulatto (his mother was mulatto) and Mariah, mulatto and half Native American (her mother was a Choctaw and her father, mulatto).

Good luck on your research,
Donald

Donald,

Thank you so much for your info. It has been very helpful. I have seen the census with the mulatto info but she has not seen it, yet. I was not aware of the Choctaw. Do you have any specific paperwork with that info or is it just family history passed down? Do you have their names? I am looking forward to your book but I would appreciate anything else that you can tell me about this family.
