The branch of the Bourbon French Conde' family in
Spain was spelled Conti. The spelling Conde, without the accent, is found in Mexican families and is a different family altogether. The derivation of the spelling Conde, without the accent. is unknown to me.

The Cond'e family I know about(my family) came to New York in about 1700. They were Huguenot/Protestant and fought against the French/Catholics in the French and Indian War. At one time there was a large migration of French-Canadians/Catholics to Louisiana--see "Evangeline". I do not know anything about any French families named Conde(without the accent). All of the French Conde's I know about were Protestant, as were all the royal family- the Protestant Princes of the Bourbon House of Cond'e. It is not known whether the New York Cond'e family was related to the royal family. I wish I could help you with the Louisiana Conde family history.

Thanks for e-mailing me back but I only knew as far as my great- grandfather and my grandfather said that his family ws from France. But I never had any proof of that. I wa raised and still remain today a catholic and so was my great-grandfather and grandfather. My folks were from Cloutierville, Louisiana 21 miles south of Natchitoches and 35 miles north of Alexandria. Have you ever been to Louisiana? Do you live in New York now? Are you going to vote for Hillary Clinton?
Well hope to hear from you again soon.
Sincerely, Barbara Conde in Louisiana

I suspect from what you have told me that you were originally French-Canadian (Arcadian/Cajun) and not related to the Protestant Conde's. I do not live in New York,so I do not have to decide who to vote for there.

This is a welcome addition to the store of knowledge about the various spellings and derivations of the Conde name. The French spelling is with the accent ague--
Cond'e, and thus easily distinguishable.

My grandfather was born in Spain. His name was Augustin Conde and his family moved to Puerto Rico when he was little. He married my grandmother, a native of Puerto Rico. My mother says he was disowned from his family ties in Spain for this. If anyone has any info, please e-mail me. Thanks.

I would like to let you know that there are many Mexicans with the surname Conde that are not mixed with Puerto Ricans, I am a Mexican Conde both of my parents are Mexican and my grandparents are Mexican, I do not know very much about the history of our surname but I have been studying it for the last 2 weeks and have found that most of the
Conde's are from France. My father's name is Daniel Conde and his father's name is Juan Francisco Conde, I am trying to find my ancestor's and any living family from my father's side. I have had no contact with my fahter's side of the family in a long time and I would like to get to know them and for them to meet my children. I do not know any of my aunts and uncles from my father's side I have not seen my father since I was 15 years old and I am now a 25 year old mother of three. So if you have any information please reply. Thank you.
