Eva Alig his wife, was born 1843 in Bavaria Germany, died, 1904 in Metamora, Il. They had a son, my Great Great Grandfather Michael William Fandel, born 8 Feb. 1865 died 17 March 1949, married to Rosina K. Kerker born 2 Feb 1865 died 30 April 1952. They had Emma K. I have been doing research on the Hilbert family. I have very little information on John Hilbert and Emma Fandel. Do you know if they had any other children, other than Violet? You can see some of my research on usgenweb.org under Iowa - Jackson County, biographies - Weis and Hilbert families.

I have lots of history on Michael and Rosina Fandel (parents of Emma) and also history of their parents and grandparents, brothers and sisters. Michael was a brother of my grandmother. However, I don't have anything on Emma's children.

I have found the following. Or I should say someone else found it and had posted the information.

John Hilbert – 1886 – Emma Fandel
John Hilbert was born on October 15, 1886. He married Emma Fandel on November 4, 1908. Emma is the granddaughter of Nicholas Fandel, born 1832 in Germany and who died in 1920 in Metamora, Illinois. Emma’s grandmother is Eva Alig, who was born 1843 in Bavaria, Germany and died in 1904 in Matamora, Illinois. Emma’s father is Michael William Fandel, born February 8, 1865 and died on March 17, 1949. He was married to Rosina K. Kerker, who was born February 2, 1865 and died on April 30, 1952. Emma was born November 25, 1889. John Hilbert died on September 27, 1926 in St. Joseph, Kossuth County, Iowa.

I know this e-mail is from several years ago, so you may have more info by now. If not, I have a lot of family history on the Nicholas Fandel family. He was my great grandfather and was married to Eva. Let me know what you need. I live close to Lourdes (Metamora) where this family settled when they first came from Germany. Eva was 3 yrs old when they came to the US and they came on a ship named "Rebecca" and landed in Baltimore 8/6/1846.
