John Moor d. 1692 at MacDonald Massacre at Glencoe

I'm researching my ancestor John Moor who died at Glencoe. His wife bore his son John the next day and escaped to Ireland to live with her brother-in-law, Samuel. Samuel brought his sons and nephew John to Londonderry, NH in about 1720.

I'm trying to trace the ancestors of John Moor within the MacDonald Clan. I notice some McDonald ancestors have "Mor" within their names. Is this a clue?

Any info most appreciated.

I just happened to find your posting. Have you received any other responses to your post, or have you found any other contacts in your search?

My family is also descended from John Moor. I guess that makes us cousins. We actually have several copies of the Moore Family (the "e" was added later) history book listing all relatives from 1648 - 1976. I can provide a lot more information. Please let me know if I can help.

Hello Cousin,

I've written up a 6 or so page summary of my family from John Moor on down. Be delighted to email it to you if you'd send me your address.

I based it on what I knew at t he time - but always glad to get corrections and additions.

Cheers,
Jenny
