I am researching Arthur Boys. born 6 January 1875 in Dunedin,New Zealand to Benjamin J Boys and Emma R Boys who were both born and mainly lived in England. He was a Trader/Merchant and travelled frequently between Ceylon and England. On the England and Wales National Probate Calendar his date of death is given as 7 July 1937at sea.Administration London to the Public Trustee Attorny of the Public Trustee of Ceylon.
There is a memorial tablet to Arthur Boys at St Agnes Church,St Agnes,Isles of Scilly which states died 7 July 1936(Not 1937 as Probate record) on the SS Yorkshire homeward bound from Ceylon and was buried at sea off Port of Sudan. Can anyone tell me where the death would be registered.I cannot find out who had the memorial put on St Agnes and I can find no record of him having any connection with the island.
Any help would be appreciated,

All births, deaths etc., on British ships had to be entered on the ship's log which the Captain had to produce at the end of every voyage. The GRO has a register of "Deaths at Sea" which is presumably all those thus registered. Try their website and look for Deaths at Sea.
