Information on Penz family

I am looking for information on Vincent Penz. I found that he was born in or about 1902 in Tirol Austria. He had a sister name Mona. His father's name seems to be K. Penz. I cannot find his complete first name. Vincent came to America in 1920. Appears like he was married to Anice Jessup, but later has a wife name Polly. Died in Indiana. Looking for information on his mother, siblings, etc... Thank You!

This is a long shot. I looked up Vincent Penz and could not find him on the Ellis Island records site (the free one), but did find a "Vinzenz Penz". As you mentioned his father is listed with an initial in the original ship's manifest, and his sister as "Mona" in Chicago.

The site does not show any "Mona Penz" traveling through Ellis Island or any woman traveling from Raunzertel. However there is an "Anna Penz" traveling to Chicago with her child with an unlisted city of origin. It looks like her daughter's name was Maugarete. There is another relative listed, the one she's going to, maybe Nickolas Pentz, but I'm not sure because of the script.

My great grandmother traveled to the states under her maiden name, it might just be a European thing.

If "Mona" ia "Anna" (sounds similar) it will be a straighter shot. Track her daughter. But if it's another family member, even a distant one, you'll have something. The chances of someone with the "Penz" name going to the same US city if they're not related is pretty slim.

Hope the best for you. Like I said a long shot, but I've had odder.

Thank you for the information. I did find out that Vincent's mother's name was Anna, but then finding further information on her has been a challenge. However, zeroing in. Thank You!

I ran across your post today -- I am the grand daughter of Vincent Penz, from Indiana, US. Vincent is one of 11 children, and he and his sister came through Ellis Island. The other sibilings did not come to the US, from what we know. Vincent's wife was indeed Anice Jessup, and her nickname was "Polly". Vincent and Polly had three children: Helen (deceased), Judy, and Mark (my father) who are both well and living in Indiana. What information are you searching for, and maybe we can help one another?

"Raunzertel" is a not existing place in Tirol and in any case a misspelling. i think it will mean Kaunertal = Kaunervalley.

his sister possible was:

in ellisisland-list nr.37
First Name: Felamena
Last Name: Penz
Ethnicity: Austria, German
Last Place of Residence: Kannsertal, Austria
Date of Arrival: May 08, 1922
Age at Arrival: 30y Gender: F Marital Status: S
Ship of Travel: Orbita
Port of Departure: Hamburg

Kannsertal not existing and is also a misspelling and means of sure Kaunertal.
also Felamaena is a not existing firstname and correct the name is written "Filomena" and can be that she made then shortened Mona, what would make sense for a better understanding in the US.this Filomena went to her female friend Alwina Kammerlander in 1416 Barry Ave, Chicago.

nr.80 - Vinzenz went to sister "Mona" in 1416 Banyad Ave, Chicago - possible means "Banyan"? his age 20 at 1922 would fit with been born 1902 like you are stated!

Hi,
I was trying to find trace the Penz family past Vincent's father whom I believe to be Karl. I could not accurately trace the family from there, which would have been in Austria; However someone else replied to a thread and sent me a few leads.

Have you tried to trace any of the Penz family? Are you in Indiana? Have you looked at my family tree on here?

i´m from Tirol and thought Kaunertal will have been meant. so ask at this parish-office i stated about them. if my guess is right so they must find them in the church-books there. in any case worth to make attempt, because also this 2 people at ellisisland make sense....
for myself i have no connection to any Penz here.
good luck!
