Do you have a date of birth for your Joseph Logan? Mine would have been born around 1823.

1823 would fall within the probable ranges of Joseph Logan's age.

My joseph Logan had to be born before 8-12-1849 and most likely 20 years before 1849

My Joseph Logan was born in VA or KY. Some records say VA and some say KY. Since KY was once part of VA both could be true. Joseph had once child that I know of. That child was my great grandfather John A. Logan (not the Civil War General) who was born in KY and in 1849. So Joseph had to move into KY some time before 1849 .

Not sure, but I dont think my Joseph was ever anywhere but possibly North or South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama.

I am at a dead end as far as he is concerned. No one knows where he came from and I am at a loss as where to look now.

If you ever hear of anything, please let me know.

Thanks so much

Wendy

Start with the information you have and start looking at census records. This takes hours at the NARA in your area but it can yield important information. Also infrequently used names can be important. John A. Logan, my great, grandfather, is a very frequently occuring name. Finley A. Logan, my grandfather, is a rare or infrequently occuring name. I knew Finley was born in Kentucky. So when I found a John A. Logan and a Finley A in 1910 Kentucky census with other vaguely familiar information I knew I had a match.

Wendy, I saw your post and was interested in your Logan. I am searching for any info on my great grandfather. His name was Frank Lewis Logan. (I am unsure if Frank was short for Franklin or not.) Frank was born May 28, 1862. Info I have show AL as place of birth - but I feel that could be wrong. Other side of family came from South Carolina and possibly TN. His father's name was Jefferson Logan and his mother's name was, supposedly, Mary. I am at a stand still on my Logan's and searching every possibility. Thank you in advance. Have more info if needed.
