I have POLENSKES and SALZWEDELS in my family tree. EMIL POLENSKE came from Niekosken, Posen, and eventually settled in Hastings, NE. Also have JULIUS SALZWEDEL, son of MARTIN SALZWEDEL, from East Prussia. Wondering if their is any connection to the Polenske and Salzwedel families of Marquette Co., WI.

I've indexed some Schoewe family names found in the local German-American newspapers: a Christian Schöwe, who received a letter postmarked from Prussian Stargardt in the 1860s. This comes from a list of letters held at the post office prior to being returned; family death notices for an Albert Schoewe in 1900; other Schoewe names Augusta, Rev. Gustave; Mrs. Bertha Bast (née Schoewe), Helen Kramer (referencing Schoewe).

"Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
