Where would I be able to find a copy of a deed, dated 4/18/1823, DB 19-508, p 190? The only info I have summarizes as "Prescutt Crisp of Stuart Co. TN sold a 4/6 interest in the land of William Cherry, desc'd, this being the shares of Nancy Lingo, Sally Brewton, Lezena Marymon, and Reback Moore." I would like to get the land description to compare to another I have. My email is bandony@frontier.com

You can get a copy from the North Carolina State Archives. Give them the Deed Book information and they will make a copy of the deed for you. If you don't live in NC, it will cost about $20; here is the link to their website where you can see details on their requirements and a form to fill out for your request:

Another suggestion is to order the roll of microfilm that deed is on and then take it to a library that has a reader printer and you will have it along with the entire deed book. I believe I paid $10 per roll for my microfilm that I bought in 2010.

This is who I ordered it from:

Thanks for the address! There several deeds I would like more info on in the same deed book, so that would work great.

Glad I could help. If you plan to buy a lot of microfilm, something else you might consider is buying a used microfilm reader. I found that much easier than taking my microfilm to the library and then having to find the place where I had stopped the previous time. The library where I go has a limited number of readers and therefore limits the time you can be on one if someone else is waiting to use it.

Just a thought.
