London Poor Law - List of paupers?

London Poor Law - List of paupers?

I'm afraid I have yet another query. Sorry

I have a set of images which appear to be a non alphabetical list of paupers together with a page number. There is no other information to key. But there are an awful lot of names!

How do I deal with this?

Thanks

Ziggy

Hi Ziggy,
I'm not doing this project but it sounds like it would be an index.

Per the wiki - "Choose the "Index" form type when the image is of an internal index. An Index usually contains names (often in alphabetical order) with a corresponding page number so as to find the individual listed. Some indexes have alphabetical tabs on the right or left margin."

Kerrie.

Hi Ziggie. Kerrie is correct. It's an index.

There's an image on the Wiki of an Index here - http://www.ancestry.com.au/wiki/index.php?title=World_Archiv...

Not all indexes look exactly like this - but all seem to have a name and a number, so essentially the same idea.

Keep going with the questions. You won't be the only one with these queries - and the Q and As will help a lot of keyers.

Thank you Kerrie and Colleen.

I'll mark them as an index

I always wonder why the images are back in the queue (based on it being just one set and the images not being sequential) and so if I'm unsure I check the messages and then ask.
