AND ISAAC CODE LAY 18861887, MOTHER (AMANDA BRIGGS) MARRIED A NUNN IN HENDERSON,TX. WHEN THESE BOYS WERE YOUNG. THEY WERE IN SAW MILL WORK, AND MOVE AROUND WE THOUGHT THE FATHERS NAME WAS ISAAC BUT FOUND A J.J. LAY MARRIED TO A AMANDA BRIGGS.MAY NOT BE THE SAME AMANDA,

This is from the J. Gilert Lay book, 'Lay Family Genealogy' It is not proofread. It does not give sources. you need to go to the courthouse and census records to verify it...but it give great dates and places to work on..Let me know if you would like to join our Lay Family Genealogical Assoc. WILLIAM LAY, whose wife was named Sarah, was either an imigrant from France or a descendant of the French Lays, lived in mid-Tennessee; came into Cass County, Texas before Civil War times. His sonWilliam Lay who married Adaline Wilson lived in Cass County, near Hughes Springs, Texas where they were employed as saw mill workers. During a shooting scrape between William Lay, Cal Williams, and a Boone, Rogers, Sherfield and Scott, Cal Wilson was killed by the Sheriff; Rogers was killed by William Lay who then went into Indian Territory Oklahoma and lived and operated a Blacksmith Shop in Tulsa; after another shooting affair in which an Indian was killed, William Lay removed back into Texas - living on Ye Walk Plains where he homesteaded 160 acres of land. William and Adaline Wilson Lay had these children: Jim, John, Homer, Ben, Virgie and Hattie Lay. virgie, married Egbert Bryant. Hattie married Mac McGown.
James Lay, married (1) Lettie Crutchfield (2) Myrtle Mullins. Children: James, Jr., who married Ora M. Williams; their children: Timothy, James, and Sharon; Dorothy, who married John Shepherd; Lottie, who married Dewey Lester; Wm. Charles, who married Dorothy Campbell, their children: Douglas and Wanda Jean Lay; Bobbie, who married Mary J. Weaver, their children: Carylon, Connie and Cynthia Lay; Richard, who married Gloria Godsby; Charles, who married Roena Skater; Joe Ann, who married (1) M. J. Needen, (2) Tom Morry (?); Mary Ann who married Paul Thornton, children: Bobbie D., Myrlin, Rolin (?) and Steve.
John Lay married Elizabeth Griffin. Their children: John W., Far, Louis, Shirley, Arthur M., Geary and Douglas Lay.
Homer Lay married Lola Drake - children: Homer, Jr., Betty Joe, Pat, Ruth, and Charles Lay. Ben married (1) Lula Ward, (2) Bertha Linksey and (3) Emma Proctor. Children: bob, Inez, Katherin, Jerry (m), Gearldine, George and Wayline, Ben, John Henry and one called “Booger” Lay. William and Sarah Lay also had these children: Cody, who died at Ash Down, Ark., Thomas Lay, marriage unknown; sister, Reed Lay and brother, Frank Lay; also a brother Isaac Lay who married Amanda Briggs. Their children: Tom, Cody, Kate and Effie Lay. Tom Lay married Beulah Buchannan they lived near Gilmer, Texas. Children: Carl Cody Lay who married Kate L. Ellison. Their children: Thomas W., and Gail Lay; Lynn Lay who married Christine Stewart. Children: Ken W., Norma, Wilma M., Carol S., and Jannett E. Lay.
Owen Lay married (1) Marjory LaRue and (2) Nell Bulloch. Children: Norma, Tony, Terry L., and Paul Dean Lay; Marjory Lay who married E. Ellison and Bill Barfield. Thomas M. Lay, married Heloise Nugent. No children. Jean Lay (f) married Elton Stewart; cordia Lee Lay married Max McClough; Lois Ann Lay married Chas. Upchurch. Ken Wayne Lay married Bonita Strachner; Norma Lay married Gearld Norman; William Mack Lay married Barbara Coxten; Carlyn Sue married Miles Phillips and Jannetta Lay married Tom Gillette. Cody Lay married Luna Buchannan, one son Franklin Lay; Kate Lay married (1) Ben Harris (2) Harry Knowlender. (?) Effie Lay married Edwin Mason.

I am the son of Ken Lay and my mother is Bonita Isabell Stracener. Just thought I would let you know so it would be correct. Also Tom's brother was Lynn M. Lay, my dad's father.
