Surnames: Vollmar (Vollmer)
My great-great-grandparents were Jacob & Martha Vollmar who came over from Germany in 1867. They lived in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. I am looking for any information on Jacob & Martha as well as his kids. He had 10 sons all together with Louis J. Vollmer being my great-grandfather. He left Wisconsin and moved to South Dakota when he was a teenager. His brothers are: John, William, Christian, Ernst, Henry, Bernard, Fred (Friderich), he also raised a boy named Christ Neumeier as his own who also came over from Germany with them. 2 other sons died at sea. We spell our last name as Vollmer.

Thank you! I have been here before, but apparently not searching in the correct spot. Interesting how her name changes with each marriage of her sons. Still have yet to find a death date for Jacob, any ideas?

Many children have no idea what their mother,s maiden name is. This is why it is important to search as many records on all the siblings you can. I have helped people who have been looking for yrs for the wrong name of their female, just because someone put the wrong last name, on their record. It can be a pain looking for the wrong last name for yrs.
These are some of the places I look for death info. You can also look for info in each county by just putting the county and state in google. Good luck.

OBITUARY - Cedarburg News issue 03 Jan 1906

OLD SETTLERS DEPART

During the past week two more of the few remaining old settlers of this city have departed from our midst to join the silent majority.

JACOB VOLLMAR died at his home in this town on Saturday noon last (30 Dec 1905), of paralysis, aged 75 years and 9 mo. He has been ailing for the past five years, but has been able to be up and about the house most of the time, until shortly before his death.

Deceased was born at Kurhessen, Germany in the year 1830, and came with his family to America in the year 1867, settling on the present homestead a few blocks north of the Cedarburg Brewery. By trade he was a stone cutter and for many years was employed in the Anschuetz & Co's stone quarries. When his health gave way he was obliged to give up his profession and retire, doing what work he was able on his few acres of land. He is survived by his widow and eight sons, all married with the exception of the two youngest at home. The sons are John of this city, Bernhard, William and Henry of Milwaukee, Louis of South Dakota, Frederich of Freistadt. Ernst and Christian who are at home. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from his late home and very largely attended, six of the his grandchildren acting as pallbearers. The services were held at the church and at the grave by Rev. E. G. Strassburger.

We desire to express our thanks to our friends and neighbors for the many acts of kindness shown us during the illness and death of our beloved husband and father, for the floral offerings and the attendance at the funeral.
