Surnames: Finis, Fimis
I have a dutch ancestor "Jan Jacobsen Finis van Dracher" from the island of Amager near Copenhagen, 1584-1650. He derives from a bunch of dutch families that immigrated to Denmark 1515-21. A list from the kings archives states a man Johan Fimis as immigrant which could be his grandfather...a guess...
Can the surname Fimis or Finis be located the a specific part of the Netherlands?

Thanks, then Fimis is probably of another origin. Sounds Latin, though.
