At the date you mention there was no such thing as a death certificate, these came in in the year 1837
The best you can hope for in as entry in the burial register, Sir Ralph Woodford was a noteable, there is plenty of references to him on the web, but the person referred to died in 1829, so perhaps it isn't the same one?

Have you managed to find the necessary information you
required for Sir Ralph Woodford ie. church records for
marriage and death. I believe St Mary's records if they
survived the extensive bombing during the 2nd world war are
kept in the city archives at the Civic Centre Southampton.
Would be pleased to have a look for you, if you can give me
dates etc. I do know one of the vicars of St Marys was a Woodford.
Regards
Wendy Woodford
ps have been researching Woodfords since 1978 but ours originated in Boldre, Norley Wood and Beaulieu in the New Forest and have gone back to the 1700's

I was doing some research for a french girl that is not speaking english.
She was looking for Sir Ralph Woodford, which is one of her grand grand grand grand .....father, and was intersting to find out his parents, and his wife parents.
Then she found out that they have been married in Westminster, so i have done some research for her on this side, but we did not go any further because no parents names were available on the wedding act.
If you want to know exactly what she has found, i can ask her, and translate for you,

Cheers,

Carole
