Surnames: Augsburger, Balmer
I am looking for an obit look up for the city of Detroit for Caroline Augsburger who died 21 December 1943. She was living with her son, Albert Balmer, on Field Ave. Can anyone tell me what cemeteries would be close to where they lived and active in 1943?

Thank you,

Shirley Karle
Sacramento, CA

If they werre Catholic, check out http://www.mtelliott.com/ and click on "genealogy." There, you can do a search and also contact someone from the company. It is a site for several different cemeteries in and around Detroit. They have always gotten back to me within a week or so.
This list of cemeteries in Detroit may also help: http://www.dsgr.org/cemeteryRecords.php

Good Luck!

The Michigan County death records from 1921-1951 were indexed last year and are in the process of final checking. The cemetery is general listed. When that is finished they will be viewable at the Mormon Church's website www.FamilySearch.org

For an obituary from 1943, the main Detroit Public Library has the three Detroit newspapers and will do a look-up and make a copy for a fee.

If her husband died between 1897 and 1920 in Michigan, look for him at www.SeekingMichigan.org under the death records. It should show where he was buried.

Since you have the death date and if you need the actual obit, you can download the request form at http://www.detroit.lib.mi.us/research-resources and pay the fee and DPL can find the obit for you and it will probably have the cemetery where she is buried.
