George Maddox and Eliza Sexton were married in Tuscaloosa Co., AL, on 25 Jan 1852. They were on the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census for Tuscaloosa Co. Eliza/Louiza's death certificate indicates she died at Stough in Fayette Co., AL, on 2 Aug 1915 and was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery. I would like to exchange information with you on this family. John Wiley Maddox is my gggrandfather. I have a photo posted of him and his family at the fayette county rootsweb site. I have been having trouble finding proof of his dad's name.

John's second wife was Mary Alice, maiden name unknown and they are both buried in Fayette Co. My grandmother told me that one of John's wives name was Alice Nadine Brohms, but I can't find anything like that anywhere.

Anyhow, John had kids with both wives, one of which included my great grandmother, Alma Maddox. (off the top of my head, other were Ella, Dicie & Goldman)

Alma was born November 21, 1893 and married Fred Landon Aldridge on November 8, 1914 in Fayette County, AL. Their children included, Ruby, Ruth, Estle, Willie, Arie, Laura, Fred Jr. Alma died July 12, 1974 and is buried at Bethabara Cemetery in Berry, Fayette County, Alabama. I have a photo of her headstone at Fayette County rootsweb as well.

Also, I see your last name is Cannon. On the other side of the family, my great grandmother, Nona Hammett (born about 1903) lived with a Mr. Cannon who helped her raise her children after Mr. Hammett left the family. I can't for the life of me remember his name (Mr. Cannon's, I mean). I would love to know more about him.

Best,
Sabrina Aldridge
