Looking specifically for Nancy Black Eldredge's family. Would like verification that she was the daughter of Joshua Black and Elizabeth Burgess---especially since the Anne Arundel records do not have an Elizabeth Burgess for her mom, nor an Elizabeth Burgess born at the time she should be according to popular info on the Eldredge family.
Her monument says she was born in Anne Arundel, but sexton records say nothing.
aAAAAAHHH!!!!!
What gets me is this information is readily available and is apparently WRONG. Would like to know info on Nancy Blacks true ancestry. She was born 1812 Anne Arundel Co.
Married Ira Eldredge in IN.
Thanks,
Anne

Cannot help with the authenticaiton of parents of Nancy Black, however in case you do not have it, there is an excellent quality photgraph of Ira Eldedge (circa 1861 when he was Bishop of Sugarhouse Ward) with his three wives sitting beside him. It is published in the book by William W. Slaughter, (photo-archivist of LDS Church) in his book, "Life in Zion" page 44, published 1995, Dereset Book.

My husband Max Eldredge was the great grandson of Ira and Nancy Black Eldredge. In his family records Nancy's parents are given as Joshua Black, 3 Sep 1788, Anne Arundel Co. MD to 4 Dec 1879, Indianapolis,Marion, IN and Elizabeth Burgess, 4 Oct 1784 AA Co, MD to 18 Jul 1835, Indianapolis, Marion, IN. I have several generations of her ancestry if you are interested.

Hello. Yes I would be interested---I have done some research into it but I don't think I took anything down. I am specifically looking for follow up info; for example, where Joshua Black and wife Elizabeth Burgess Black are buried. And Nancy and Ira---I believe Nancy died in Indiana? What cemetery? Trying to fill in the little details....do you guys have that kind of stuff?
Thanks for contacting me, Anne

Nancy Black Eldredge died 12 Apr 1895 in Coalville, Summit, UT, was buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, SLC, SL, UT. She and Ira were married 4 Jul 1833 in Indianapolis,Marion, IN. Verification of her death may be found in the diary/journals her son Alma Eldredge kept over the years of his life. (I have a copy of those little books.) Her father Joshua was born 3 Sep 1788, St. Paul's Parish, Baltimore, Baltimore Co., MD. (I believe I placed him in AA County last night which was eroneous.) He died 4 Dec 1870 in Indianapolis, Marion,IN. Her mother Elizabeth Burgess, 4 Oct 1784, Anne Arundel, MD, and died 18 Jul 1835 in Indianapolis. I do not have the burial places of the parents. As I said I have much of the data on this family. If you check the LDS website Familysearch.org I believe much of this data is listed back to the early days of history. I recently saw much of it there. Send me an email direct for other information and I will do what I can. Incidentally, where do you fit into the family? Good luck. Jeanne

Dear Jeanne,
I am searching the Maxwell family of Summit County. Arthur Franklin Maxwell married Evalett 'Eva' Eldredge. This is the connection that I have with the Eldredge line. Arthur Franklin descends from Ralph Maxwell, while my own line comes from John Maxwell and John Russell Maxwell.
Gary

didn't find Eva (var.) nor Maxwell

Hello Gary,
I have no Eldredge named Eva or Evalett in my database, nor do I have a Maxwell. I have a slew of Eldredges but she is not one. The Eldredges had very large families and several of the men had multiple wives, so i do not pretend to have nearly all of them. Good luck. Try the Mormon database at www.familysearch.org. Jeanne
