Can anyone help pls? My gt-grandfather, John Danehy (he may have been using the surname Jackson) was killed whilst working on the building of a dam in the USA, around the year 1880. The region, I believe, may have been MA but don't know for sure. Can anyone tell me if and where industrial accidents might have been recorded at that period in time? The Social Security death index doesn't go back that far and I am completely lost at the moment as to where to look next.
thanks all - and if anyone ever needs a favour from the Sheffield UK area, just ask.

My grt grt grt Grandfather worked at windsorlocks which is a damn as a child he was about 12 His name is Thomas F Danehy sr.He would have been either 1 or 2 when he came to usa or born with in a year of getting here. We do not know if he had any brothers or sisters since we lock up on searches with him. We do know that he married Katherine Kate Laverty and lived in CT about 30 miles from MA. I have info forward. Does match up at all? I know that this is not giving you the death info that you are looking for but if it matches maybe will help find him.
