I am interested in James Gange born 1825/6 in Hamptworth he married Elizabeth Harris in 1847
I thought I had found him on the 1841 census under Ganger James and listed with Susanna Gange as her grandson BUT, I cant find the relevent paperwork can you help by confirming this or can you say who his parents were???

Yes, James Gange born 1825 was the grandson of James and Susannah Gange of Earldoms in the 1841 census. We discovered last year that he was the son of their daughter, Elizabeth Fanny Gange. If you contact me direct on ganges34@hotmail.com, I can give you all the details we have discovered over the last few years. Can you let us know your relationship? My husband John is a great great grandson of James and Elizabeth.

Hi
I am at my daughters babysitting at the moment and dont have my gange paperwork with me
James had a son Henry who married Anne Harrison their daughter Ellen Edith married Frederick George Lindsey, and had a daughter [amongst others] Mabel Ellen Linda Elizabeth who married Reginal John William Henwood, they had a son Robin, my dad.
Thank you for the info re Elizabeth Fanny, I believe she went on to marry Charles Downer and had a son Henry?

We were in touch with Roy Gange, of Salisbury until he died a few years back, also descended from Henry. My husband is descended from Thomas Gange, younger brother of Henry, and his cousin, once removed, Jane Barnes.

We have tried to track down descendants of all of the 13 children of James and Elizabeth.

Also the descendants of the other children of James and Susannah. As well as brothers and sister of James - we think we have his parents and have earlier Ganges in the same area, but it gets a bit more difficult before then, although a Gange family were in Puddletown back in the 1500's.

I am also in touch with other Gange descendants from other branches in Somerset/Dorset. I am in the process of putting their details onto Ancestry and will invite you to view. I have not found a link with them yet, but hopefully will one day.

Are you from Michelmersh? That is where James and Susannah married. She was originally from Cranborne, Dorset and he from Eling (we believe he was born in Portsmouth). When you are back home if you could let me know how much you want filling in, I will be pleased to do so. Although it may take a while. I have been doing the research over 20 years with Gange relatives in USA, Australia, Cumbria and with Roy and Edward from Salisbury.

Elizabeth did marry Charles Downer, but James' father was a John Spinkernell who did a runner. I will look out the info and send it to you. Have you got an email address?
