Does anyone out there recognise the following names - listed on a photo c 1935/40

"Michigan: Frank LANEGAN, Cyril, Alice, Elsie, Bobby. Grandma LANEGAN (Hague) and my mother's grandma were sisters. Her Auntie May brought up my grandmother'.

The person relating this information to her son was Polly (Mary Ellen) Greaves (ms Halliwell) my mothers cousin, when she was 89 yrs old, 3 years before she died.

Grandma LANEGAN's sister was my grtgrandmother Mary Foster (? Hague) in Wigan Lancashire, who I knew very little about until I received this information from my 2nd cousin, the son Polly gave this information to. I now need further information on both the Lanegan connection and on the Hague sisters in particular.

Would love to hear from anyone who may be related to either of the families LANEGAN or HAGUE. The Lanegan and some Hague descendants are probably in the USA and others in the UK - ancestors of both families from Wigan, Lancs area UK and possibly Ireland.

In anticipation - many thanks

Hello, I've only just seen this message but I am interested in anything you may know about Polly Halliwell please?
Polly was my great, great aunt and I didn't even know she had married or had a son so I'd be very grateful if you could fill in any details for me.
Thank you so much.

My name is Jamie Lanegan. Daughter of James Walter Lanegan(born 6-6-1955) and Karen Plowman. I am a product of adoption so I have very little contact with any of my blood relatives. I would like to know who I came from what blood I have running through my veins. JamesterL1990@Yahoo.com

Hi Jamie

I'm afraid I don't know an awful lot about the Lanegan/Lenagan relations......my GtGrandmother(Mary Hague)'s sister, Alice Hague, married a Joseph Donnelly and it was their daughter, Mary Alice DONNELLY, who married a John LENEGAN. John had emigrated to USA in 1906 and Alice followed a year later and they were married three days after Alice arrived in New York. I did make contact with some of their children and grandchildren but seem not to have been able to contact them recently - ? they have changed e-mail addresses.

John and Alice Lenegan had children Francis Joseph, Alice, Elsie, Robert, and John Cyril, between 1909 & 1925 (estimated dates.) I have a spouse name for only one of these children and that is Ligocki, with children Patricia, Elsie,Nancy, and Catherine that I know of. I do have some spouse names for these children (3rd cousins of mine) but very little else and I haven't researched further on any of them as all are in USA. Possible surnames Duco and Gardner, Hathaway, but nothing proven.

If you can see any definite connection with any of the names perhaps I can help further but I don't at this stage have any Lenegan/Lanegan names or dates as recent as 1955 and nothing that matches those you have listed.

Regards and best of luck in your research.

Ah sadly it's not the same Polly, my Polly's parents both died while Polly was still young and she was raised by her grandparents, Greenwood & Mary Ann Halliwell.
The Martin is my married name and I haven't really done any searching into that side of the family although I do know that, on the maternal side only, the family name was FEW and the Martin's had roots in Ireland.

Sorry we can't connect but thanks anyway.

Hi

Rather thought that might be the case - there were an awful lot of Mary Anne's or Mary Ellen's known as Polly in that era not to mention Halliwell's as well - but if you don't ask you'll never know and connections do tend to turn up in unexpected places.

Haven't done anything more on my MARTIN line either so who knows - we may connect some day, if I ever get that far that is!! Two of my lines have roots in Ireland according to stories my Thomas FOSTER grandfather told me, but as yet, and I've got back to 1841, they have all proved to have been born in Lancashire !! Which generation he was referring to remains to be seen if that brick wall ever begins to crack let alone crumble.

Thanks for responding

Good luck with your future searching
