Dale,
My husband has a great-grandfather, Martin, who married an Eva. He was an orphan from Poland who moved to northeastern Pa.. He may have married in the 1880-90's. Was your Martin born or married in the 1890's? Perhaps there is some connection.
Bonnie

My Father Franciszek Szczech was born in Lukowiec in 1910 he had a first cousin named Marcin (Martin) this could be a connection. I do know that Marcin Szczech married and had a daughter Czesia who is now in Australia Martin was also my paternal grandfathers name.

My Grandmother was Mary Szczech. She married Michael Fedyk in Rochester, NY. She was born in Poland, but I'm not sure where. She came here in the early 1900's.

Hello!
My Martin had children that were born at about the same time that your Martin was so I am thinking they are not the same. But maybe cousins? My best source is currently recovering from surgery and promised to get with me soon to fill in my gaps. As soon as I have anything, I will let you know. Here's hoping there's a connection.

My sister, Patty Fedyk, replied on Mar 18, 2010, about our grandmother Mary Szczech Fedyk. I am working on our family tree and I know that her father was named Martin (Marcin). Martin's wife's name was also Mary, but the marriage certificate says her last name was Koniouze, not Siwy. However, we lived in the same neighborhood (Hudson Ave vicinity of Rochester NY) as your family. My grandmother Mary had two brothers Joe and Stan who immigrated to NY. She had a half-brother John (Jan), and possibly another brother who was a concert violinist in the old country but who died.

Oh, by the way, my grandmother had a cousin Zofia who moved to Brooklyn, where she married a Spaniard with the last name of Rey. I believe heir family lives in Yonkers now although I don't have an address. I remember them from when I was little.
