Searching for Michael James Bacon, US Navy. Served on USS Cleveland during war. Was in charge of unloading marines from Amphibian. Previously USS Barbour County. Can't remember his rank.
He was my best friend before enlisting, and afterwards. Until we lost contact in 1993 for reasons that at the time were beyond my control.

Is your Mike Bacon African American? I know of three Mike Bacons in that were in the service during that time from 2 were Chief Petty Officers and the other gentlemen was a seamen who happens to be of African American descent.
