MacDonald Egnaig (Forbes) (MacIsaac)

Gday. I am following a family that emigrated to Little River,Australia from Egnaig on Marco Polo in 1851.

Ronald MacDonald b abt 1756 m Catherine Forbes

Their son John b 1795 m Margaret MacIsaac. They and a large family (I think including Donald - brother of Ronald) have been located several times in censuses at Acharacle and Glenuig etc.

Fr Ranald Rankin was their priest and organised a group emigration.

I have just now made the jump to Scotland and would like to follow any sources for the pre-emigration period.

regards

Bill Atkin

Hi Bill,
I'm researching the family of John MacDonald and Margaret McIsaac who were married in Moidart around 1819/1820.
They emigrated on the Marco Polo in 1852.Margaret died at Clunes on 22nd August,1861.John died at Heathcote on 7th May, 1875.I have copies of their certificates.I am tracing the families of Donald,Anne,John,Alexander,Catherine,Mary and Sarah.I would willingly share what I have.I am not a relation but an avid family historian doing this for a number of descendants - Steve Bohan

Hello Steve

I am very pleased to collaborate with you and would like to link up with the families.

I am currently in Scotland and have found the baptism records for a number of their children. I have the township the family spent about twenty years in before coming to Australia. I have taken a large number of photos and videos.
I have made some strong links with the local family history society and started a possible programme for later visits.
Where are you in OZ?
This could be quite exciting.
CHEERS

Bill

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your response.I'm in Yarrawonga and have contact with quite a number of your distant cousins who live in Northeast Victoria. It would be great if you could come up and meet your relations and tell them about Moidart. One of your cousins,Bernadette Black nee McDonald died yesterday in the Frankston Hospital. She came from Yarrawonga - her parents owned the Criterion Hotel here. There are Bryants around Wangaratta and some over here.I look forward to hearing from you - All the best, Steve
